Looking at the WoWhead comments regarding the Intel 13th/14th gen BIOS popup warning, I foresee Blizzard’s CS (to say nothing of the crash reporter dumps) being overloaded with these knuckledraggers who refuse to update to the latest BIOS fix because they applied the first and/or second one and “it’s enough”. If it were enough Blizzard wouldn’t have coded Agent/WoW to check for the latest microcode update, which is later than the previous “it’s enough” updates.
Equally stupifying are the “laughing in Ryzen” crowd, whom have apparently forgotten AMD’s AM5 fiasco from just under two years ago. While ASUS was the most egregious offender on the BIOS front, all of the mobo manufacturers were allowed to flout the design limits and just sauce the CPUs until they could literally catch fire. At least with the Intel debacle it won’t catch fire, but merely destroy the CPU (possibly the socket as well depending on the quality of the LGA pin soldering).
So much dumbfudgery and refusal to do the most basic of things to keep your very expensive hardware working properly, and it’s not even as nerve wracking as it was a decade ago since nearly all but the cheapest mobos have dual BIOS, virtually ensuring you can still recover from an oopsie on the primary BIOS by booting from the secondary BIOS and repairing the first one.

Who’s bating whom? Genuinely curious. If you were referring to me, I’m too lame to try actual troll baiting, especially for the purposes of enticing discussion. That’s something Drothvader was a master at, but not me. I’m just a weirdo.
If it’s someone else doing the baiting, I’m too lame to catch on. ![ ](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
Regarding our panda overlord, I kinda want a sleepy panda pet for D4. D3 has the sleepy cat. D4 needs a sleepy panda. Now that I think of it, a Centaur class would rock. No need for horses - I’m my own mount and I could decorate myself as I see fit.
It’s a thread currently sprawling in GD, nothing happening here.
Oh. Well, I’m safe then. I think. I can’t post in GD. Until I find some avenue that lets me play WoW again my two CEs sit unused. ![:frowning: :frowning:](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/frowning.png?v=12)
i herd about all that im running on 9th gen so im safe i think
My “updated” rig is a 9900k system, with 128 GB RAM. I finally got the case up the two half-flights of stairs this last week. That isn’t easy with a bad back when the box is like 3’ x 4’ and weighs almost 90 lbs. It’s a Cosmos C700M case I chose for its vertical GPU mount and the fact it is one of the few remaining cases that can accomodate a blu-ray drive so I can have a combo gaming/HTPC setup. Now I just need to get it out of the box so I can start putting it together and move my 4090 from my current (4770k) system to the new rig. And I’m really Jonesing for the C700P’s metal doors. Problem is I can’t find a source for them. I’d prefer them to the glass on the C700M for both acoustics and blocking the Strix 4090’s built in RGB (I refuse to install ASUS bloatware just to turn those off).
Yes, I know about bottlenecks, but I’m not aiming for 400+ FPS here, just a solid offload from the CPU. Even on a 4770k system the 4090 made a major improvement over my 1080 Ti in D2R, D4, and nearly every game I’ve put against it, including PoE (haven’t tried PoE 2 yet as I’m not paying for early access to a free to play game that I’ve already paid into for stashes).
As for 9th gen being safe, it is safe from the level of degredation that 13th and 14th gen face, but it isn’t entirely immune as Intel and mobo vendors started saucing the CPUs back when 8th gen came out. To be totally safe you need to find the Intel power limit charts for the 9th gen and set BIOS to those maximums. Thankfully a 9900k can be air cooled just fine with all core 5 GHz turbo using a Noctua NH-D15 G2 Standard cooler. My biggest problem will be which slots to put my NVMe drives into since I also need to keep PCH lanes open for at least four SATA ports.
Ah the joys of Intel not having an updated HEDT system where I wouldn’t have to make sacrifices.

H’ok. Time to go flash my BIOS.
Wish me luck, fingers crossed. See y’all on the other side.

Finishing my OW dailies… I wonder what is happening on the forums… Oh…
Hopefully that will mean moderation has a little less to do in the morning… assuming some folks take the hint.

You know what they say, third time’s the charm. Right? … right??
I know I am pretty bad and should’ve just left it at a report and muted the thread.

I’m pretty sure we’ve all eaten a trolololol sammich or three during our time here. There are some that are masters of it. There is one player in particular that has dozens of Battle.net accounts to sockpuppet. Really wish that one would get taken care of. He’s almost certainly 80-90% of the “conversations” on the D3/D4/D2R fora.
Whatchagonnado?

Trust me, trying to solve that (especially by hand) is pure darkness.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! breathes HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Er… I mean, I agree.
Another lovely mid-Michigan morning here. Not terribly cold, but we did get a little snow while I was out walking. And Onyx, bless her little heart, decided to carry a stick as long as she is almost the entire five miles.
