If anyone is wondering why they might be getting this popup warning even if they did the 8/24 or 9/24 BIOS update(s), it’s because there was a third vulnerability found and Intel issued microcode updates in October. Vendors would have had to soak (test) the update and it would be shown as a November update on their websites. If you do not have anything later than the September update and you have an Intel 13th or 14th gen CPU, you will continue to get the nag warning.

TL;DR: If you get this popup, you’re missing the most recent BIOS update. Update or risk being vulnerable to degredation because you lack all three BIOS fixes (the latest BIOS update rolls them all into one fix).

And a few hours later, perfect chocobo race time in the Calm Lands. I thought I’d never get that and would have to hang up the towel for the platinum trophy.

Caladbolg, here I come!

Yeah, that race took me close to four hundred attempts to finally get a 0 time. Not gonna lie, RNG is an absolute troll in that race. Ironically dodging the lightning strikes 200 times in a row is harder to do if you lack quick reflexes.

Edit: Just ordered myself a UPS for my route/cable modem. Being a 1000W UPS and the combo of the router and cable modem using 30W, maybe 40W if maxed out (which it wouldn’t be in an outage), it should keep both online during most outages lasting even a few hours.

10000% luck and 0% skill, I’ve always said. Even on the original PS2 version. It took me less than 50 tries overall on the HD Remaster and only two or three tries tonight after finally toppling Yunalesca earlier.

I’m not looking forward to dancing with lightning, however…

Ouch slipped in the shower i swear this is my moms fault he had a permonistion i should stay home tommorowno harm done beside my ego and pulling off the curtain rod easy to put back on.

Glad you are alright. Though I imagine you will feel it tomorrow. Best wishes for speedy recovery and nothing seriously injured.

I’ve made a habit of saving more often than not. I even went so far as to grind out Gimel Coins in Wild Arms 3 (currently playing) so that when I go into dungeons I can save. Proved to be very, very handy with the Decaying Labyrinth which throws a nasty curve ball at you: Once you get to the lone treasure chest and open it, a boss battle ensues. Defeat the boss and claim the treasure and…instant drop to 1 HP for all characters and the VIT gauges are set to zero so you can’t heal at all in between battles. Unless you had at least one booster kit to raise your encounter (ECN) gauge to 20 and you saved all 20 points by engaging every random battle prior to the treasure chest and knew to use a Gimel Coin prior to entering the room with the chest, the results could be disastrous as you would then have to redo the entire dungeon, including boss battle, if you failed to do all of the above. And you need those ECN points because they’re used to skip battles. Green ! marks were freebies, but white ! marks cost points. And random battles happened. A lot.

Once you were outside, you returned to normal status and could also then start the gardening grind (took me two hours to do for just the heal/potion berries, revive fruits, and mini carrots). I now have 99 of each, making boss battles just a bit less frustrating.

Luckily its just my foot and arm didnt hit my head my shower is in a bathtub which probably helped.

I mean this is even the Penultimate Cardinal Rule of RPGs. SAVE OFTEN. However often you’re saving will never be enough THAT ONE TIME.

:sob:

I’m so mad at myself right now. :joy:

That’s why with modern systems and PCs running with SSDs I save as often as I can since it doesn’t take ages like the days when we had to rely on those slow, tiny PS1 and PS2 memory cards.

My willingness to prep early in the game also allowed me to take on the Diobarg random boss to get my fifteen dragon fossils for the sandcraft. I got it then spent an hour and a half grinding 50 more fossils to get the best cannon for the sandcraft. Now instead of getting 20-40 EXP per battle I can just battle via the sandcraft for a nice 500-800 EXP per battle, significantly easing the amount of grinding I have to do. And my perserverance in exploration netted me the two Migrant Seals on the world map by random luck of finding their locations manually without a guide, and I now have an ECN level of 6, meaning I can skip more battles in dungeons as they’ll cost less points than with a lower ECN guage (points deducted per battle are the the battle ECN minus your ECN level with battle ECN of equal or less value than your ECN level being free to skip).

I think I should’ve named her Pyro.

She is a real Pyromaniac.

All is right again. One hour later and a borderline patience-breaking number of tries in the Calm Lands race again, back to looking ahead for the rest.

And rightly saved.

Mmm…ones and zeros.

I really wish Steam forced games to have a standardized save location so writing scripts to just back those up was easy. There are times when you don’t want to make use of their cloud save feature and having updated local backups is a real boon in those instances.

I’m curious what those taste like.
