This might get edited but it’s too big of a headdesk moment for me not to share. I’m dumb like that.
TLDR: Coworker gets new laptop the other week. Starts downloading games.
Him: Oh you know. I haven’t played Warcraft 2 in a long time. I should download that.
Me: Yeah they are releasing a new version of it in a remaster.
Him: Oh cool I need to look into that
Next day
Him: Hey, so I downloaded Warcraft 2 and I got a text message from some company saying that I downloaded an illegal copy and that they let my ISP know.
Me: Was it from Blizzard?
Him: No it was from company, I don’t remember the name. It was weird sounding. But I know it’s real because I got an e-mail from them saying the same thing.
Me: Wait, did you pirate a copy of the remaster?
Him: Yeah, I wanted to try it but I decided whatever. I already deleted it. I’m not going to bother anyway.
Me: Did you forget to turn on your VPN?
Him: No I just thought Meh. I don’t care anymore. But why would they do that? Why would Blizzard spend the money on that.
Me: (Facepalming) To salvage some of the sales when it’s a new product. The best time to do it. It’s a scare tactic.
Him: Why would Blizzard do that?
Me: Could be Microsoft now. They have money to burn.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I’ve got nothing really going on today. Hoping I can run over to the kids’ place this afternoon to deliver a couple gifts that didn’t arrive in time for our Sunday shindig.
Today’s itinerary includes laundry and cleaning. My goal is to get the den/computer room cleaned and organized, then switch over to the new computer desk that’s been collecting dust for a year. Later, I might make a couple trips to the dumpster at work to thin out some closet clutter. Finally, I’m going to try to get to the recycling center before work tomorrow to drop off a bin of old electronics and (I think) three old LCD monitors/TVs.
Merry Christmas everyone! It’ll be a quiet day here, with a little cooking of treats. We’re doing our family Christmas on the weekend, since I only get today off. Now, I’m off to collect some presents in WoW, then probably wrapping stuff, since that’s still not done.
Our ham just went in the oven. Will be having rolls, mac & cheese, and creamed corn along with it. It is just me and hubby for dinner, so gonna be plenty of leftovers.
For now, we are just relaxing and watching Die Hard.
