Hope you all having a great evening!.
Grinded a bunch of Heroic dungeons tonight with my Guild. Went up to iLevel 583 from 580 when I logged in earlier.
Very close to having all of my gear at 580+ now as Iām trying to gear up as much as I can before I do M+ and the normal raid with my raid team!
RIP James Darren AKA vic fontaine from DS9
Tomorrow my kids start a new school year. I think weāre all set. My son is headed to high school, grade 9, and my daughter is headed to grade 6.
Just crazy how fast this summer went by
I wonder if I can abuse Gear Update to get rid of gear items I cannot destroy or vend.
Hey vrak a few days ago someone mentioned there guild did Fantasy football legue with wow gold and we were wondering if that was allowed.
I suppose if you donāt clear it out of the mail and allow it to expire, that is possible. Allowing mail to sit there for months would bug me. LOL
Technically itās gambling though not exactly a casino but along the same lines, which is allowed. It is the advertisement of a casino/games of chance, etcā¦ that is prohibited so I imagine if it is within the guild structure and doesnāt bleed out into other channels it should be fine.
Hmm.
May be worth a try ā¦ one day. The really hard part for me would be avoiding this character for two months.
Maybe once Iāve learned all the tailoring patterns.
Sorry, didnāt mean to go off topic in that other thread, that short hashtag one user has been using in every post, someone kindly point me to the right meaning, because Google is actually giving me all different meanings, including Deep Fried Mars Bars.
EDIT: Actually, just posting mars bars made me hungry
Youāre fine, Ayukama, I just wanted to clean it up a bit and remove all traces to keep the topic focused.
Oh figured that out then. You can delete the post.
But I honestly never thought about it until just earlier is all. Well, glad we got this all sorted, going to be making myself some pasta for something to eat, the mars bar made me hungry.
Ty satisfaction satisfied.
Just been on my mind lately, so! Hereās a brief technical lesson. This is all old stuff though ā Iām not hip and with it anymore.
You can think of a file as a book. Itās got a cover with the name on it; on the inside is a bunch of pages which comprises the data.
I remember in the old days people would describe a hard drive as being like a library you can walk into to grab a book, but thatās hugely simplified.
What would be more accurate is that the cover of the book is located at the card catalogue; and that the pages of the book are scattered throughout the library. In order to find āa fileā, you are going to the catalogue then walking around the library to find all the pages.
This is important because:
- In the bad old days of mechanical drives, youād run a disk defrag so that the pages were more or less in one place, and so your hard drive could grab it all in one spin, rather than going round-and-round trying to grab the pieces.
- People would āshort-strokeā their drives; theyād partition the drive into faster and slower portions and keep their urgent files on the faster portion. (I donāt recall exactly why one section was faster; maybe just denser? Logically all portions of the drive would spin around at the same time, but the outer edges would move faster).
All of the above benefits rely on the physical aspects of spinning media; this is why consolidating the files on an SSD is more of a hindrance than help. While defragging performs some functions (e.g. wiping āemptyā[1] space, which is important but which also happens automagically while the drive is idle), there are no moving parts on an SSD; no matter where the data is, itās going to be retrieved at the same latency level, ignoring things like memory interleaving.
Itās technically a hindrance because the memory chips wear out as theyāre written to. You want to clear out data from a cell, but you donāt want to randomly shuffle data around for funsies. Mind you, modern SSDs of decent size will outlast the machines theyāre being used in.
This is also how delete and undelete works:
- The āreferenceā to the data is stored at the card catalogue.
- Traditionally, when a file is deleted, the data is untouched; what really happens is that the reference at the catalogue is removed.
- āUndeletingā a file really just means finding that data and regenerating the file reference. This would rely on the drive going through, sector by sector, finding data to piece back together.
[1] Mechanical drives can directly overwrite data but SSDs require that data location is reset first, before again being written to.
For 4 years Iāve been peering at the little window on my COVID tests going, is that a really faint line or am I just seeing things? and concluding that no, there was no line - despite working retail all this time so probably having plenty of exposure. Today, I didnāt even have to wait the full 15 minutes. Two minutes in, bright pink, no question at all.
Hopefully some of the time Iāll feel well enough to play WoW during this unplanned āvacationā and have at least a little bit of silver lining. Right now I feel worse than typical cold but not as bad as typical flu, so weāll see.
Hope you feel better soon.
Aw. I hope you feel better soon!
Vrakthris, can I ask you a centaur question?
We have seen many centaurs clans throughout Azeroth, which clan is you part off?
Lord of the flies the mystical all knowing centuar tribe.
Iāve misread this for Lord of the Fries
Sir this isnt a wendys lol.
