I’m disappointed I’m in the middle. I’d either have to stop posting or spam the thread to get to an extreme.

Do you review each flag or do you just check the post when you see a flag and make a judgement off the post itself? Seems like reading every one of those “Something Else” reports might get a little tedious… and possibly unnecessary if you can simply look at the post itself.

We tend to check the post itself primarily, since the content of the post is what we are reviewing for violations. Most violations are obvious, if not we may refer back to how it was flagged to see if we can figure out why it was reported if it isn’t entirely obvious.
Some people use the wrong flag, on purpose of by accident, so how it is flagged isn’t really relevant outside of providing a bit more information that the Moderator might use.

Is anyone else getting weird read only messages or is the forums just acting up on me?
I thought I logged into the wrong place. People’s portraits were circles half over the post itself. It said that emails were disabled, and none would be sent out across the top. 
I think we’re seeing some high traffic because the game is still in maintenance so forums are getting a little wonky.

That make sense. And maybe the “Something Else” description box can help in that regard.

One use for “Something else” I have wanted here is “posted in the wrong forum.” “Inappropriate” is almost correct, but I always feel dirty reporting an innocent and perfectly acceptable thread with exactly the same flag as a racist screed or a callout.

I don’t know, the description for off-topic is: This post is not relevant to the current discussion as defined by the title and first post, and should probably be moved elsewhere.
Which seems to define a post within a thread. While I’m sure it could and likely will be used by those reporting off topic threads, Something else would probably applicable as well, and able to be better defined. I’ve wanted a “wrong forum” option for ages.

Kinda, but misses the nuance. “Off topic” fells more like “doesn’t match the rest of the thread,” but an initial post can’t be off-topic to itself. “Wrong forum” is “off-topic” only if you squint and claim that “topic” is the stated purpose of the subforum.
Explicitly reporting “wrong forum” seems to be a real need.

But like you said, you’re pretty much just looking at the post anyway. I suspect the percentage of reported posts that you can’t figure out without the report descriptor is in the single digits anyway.
Maintenance is wrapped up and servers are up. Just got to remember to check the laundry from time to time.
