Before I got a mixer, I used to use a dough cutter to blend butter, flour, an a couple of tablespoons of water into flaky dough. Just took a bit of muscle power.
The trick is to use ice water and very cold sliced up butter and chop the stuff together until the butter chunks were about pea sized. Slicing the butter up a bit first helped.
Then refrigerate the dough before rolling it out to keep the butter from softening.
Dough cutters are $5-$10 on Amazon.

Funny story - Years ago, I wanted to make a pie. And because I wanted to do it right, I was working from scratch - fresh fruit, home made pie crust, the works. Called my grandma to find out how to make crust. “Oh, I just use store bought.” So I called my other grandma, same answer.
So I’ve never had a reason to make my own crust.

Was planning to see John Wick: Chapter 4 tomorrow, but just learned it’s nearly three hours. I think I may wait until I can watch it at home so I can give myself an intermission.
I’ll almost certainly see the D&D movie next week, though.

John Wick 4 was wicked. Really good movie and I didn’t even notice 3 hours went by in (gun)flash(es).

I mostly use store bought crust and have noticed that many store brands are better than Pillsbury.
I do make my own pie dough for special pies, like the Tourtiere I make for my wife. That pie is much better with a flakier crust as is most meat pies.
All our pies are homemade made with tenderflake.
I can make pie crust, but the ones you can buy have gotten pretty good, so I rarely bother, even though mine is usually better.
I’ve only made yeast dough one time and it wasn’t that great, so if I need that, frozen dough will probably be better than homemade in my case.
I’m going on Thursday to see it.
closer to 2001 but still makes a person feel old

I had a world quest area glitch and my character got stuck in a back and forth loop movement. Always breaking that poor Monk. So I requested to be moved. When I logged back in to the game my Monk was falling from the sky into the ocean (thankfully away from the glitched area finally).
Not sure why the system picked middle of sky above ocean as my safe relocation area.

Blech… I’ve spent entirely too much time in GD lately, and desperately need to bleach my brain as a result. If anybody needs me, I’ll be in the pillow fort, eating my Toblerone and watching adorable animal gifs on Imgur.

r/brainbleach is usually pretty good if you don’t find enough on imgur.
Edit: I think I meant r/Eyebleach. r/brainbleach is good bleaching content, it just isn’t getting new posts.

Officespace talked about updating software for the Y2K switch, and released in 1999.
Yes, that was 24 YEARS AGO.

Mmh. New main page navigation is going to take a little getting used to. Sometimes I dislike change.
In other news, it pleases me immensely that DeSantis is reaping the karmic benefits of his intention to take control of Disney World. Unfortunate that the residents have to suffer for it, but he could personally use a few more servings.
My fingers are crossed that it holds up in court.
