The prime rib on the grill came out excellent. I assume the salmon did as well. I don’t partake in eating fish. The fog has finally lifted but the rain is coming. All in all it was a nice holiday. I hope everyone else has the same experience.
Oh, my husband got me a carved stone skull, about 2 inch tall for Christmas. He said I was playing Diablo so he thought I needed it. Kinda funny but all is good!
Currently at my brother’s. He made chili so I brought corn muffins which came out as good as always (Jiffy mix, can’t really mess it up). And deviled eggs, which I haven’t made in ages and I’m not sure I had them exactly right, but I’m enjoying them. Not my usual go-to for holiday meal contributions, but got some keto folks in the family so I was going for something I like that was also keto friendly. I made them fancy with red and green by sticking sprigs of parsley and tiny slices of cherry tomato on them. This is the first time I have ever used tweezers to garnish food.
I’m now thinking of migrating over to a linux distribution at some point. It’s not just the 6ghz wifi situation either.
It’s also “Optimizations for Windowed Games” being a Windows 11 exclusive as well. This is necessary for older dx11 games so they run with the performance of exclusive fullscreen and in an undocumented manner, properly functioning variable refresh rate.
That last point afflicts FFXIV hard, as they use BitBlt swapchain presentation, and currently the go-to method is to do a big nasty, which is dll injection of a tool like specialk to do the equivalent in win10 of said win11 feature.
So after this wall of text, I’m now asking around for what would be the recommended linux distro, or at least one that WoW devs use unofficially, to avoid complications.
Hope that everyone travelled safely and had an enjoyable holiday (or are still celebrating/traveling)!
Since I find myself too awake at this hour, I think I’m going to go out and brave the masses to see if I can’t grab some stuff from the post-Christmas sales. And cheat and grab some breakfast while I’m at it.
[Edit] Our sleepy panda is on it this morning. Entirely too early for all that muck.
I, too, need to go out and brave the retail world this morning. I was planning to give Walmart a miss, but I may pop in to stock up on wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, and gift tags.
Also, I’m super curious about what my roommates have done with the silicone oven mitts I just bought a month ago…
I try to only buy that kind of stuff this time of the year - unless it’s something I need direly in a pinch. I also will not be too upset if there is some good candy left. For reasons. >>
No judgment. I’m having jelly beans for breakfast.
Edit - Since today’s errands involve a 2-3 hour stop at work, I’ve decided to delay running them until the earbuds are fully-charged. For my sanity and their safety.
