Had a visitor to mom’s bird feeders:
Sir. Sir please. You are a bit too big–sir–sir, no, you’re too big-- XD
Recovery is going well! Spent a lot of time sleeping yesterday, and playing the new Pokemon in between. (Haven’t been up for sitting upright, so just been in bed except to get food/restroom/shower/etc.) Today’s been much of the same, except I now seem to be out of my NyQuil that I’ve been using to get rid of this leftover cough. Texted my dad to see if he could bring me some wound care and cold and flu stuff whenever he gets the chance.
Two weeks from today until Christmas Eve! Everyone hoping for some nice gifts this year? Told everyone that is buying me some gifts for some Warcraft related items!
Don’t forget your delicious eggnog by the way. Soo delicious. My favorite festive drink this time of year!
eggnog gang!

I never do. This has been made by most of my friends with good results once they get used to his verbose style of talking. Also done on a cooking twitch stream one year for xmas! Not by me, by someone else. I think maybe two streams even.
EGGNOG ½Batch
This recipe is one I got from my father. The brandy is used the same way as vanilla, as flavoring. If you want it to be alcoholic then you can spike the individual glasses as they are served. All metric conversions are approximate.
Ingredients:
6 large eggs*
1 cup powdered/confectionery sugar
1 quart half & half (1 Liter)
1 pint heavy cream (½ Liter)
1 dash salt
½ tsp ground nutmeg (or to taste)
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 tablespoons Asbach Uralt German Brandy**
(if not available try Couviosiur VS cognac)
Cookware:
1 Blender*
1 Electric mixer*
2 small bowls to hold the separated eggs whites and yolks
1 large bowl or container to combine all the ingredients in or use electric mixer in
1 medium bowl to make the whip cream in
1 medium bowl to make the meringue in
1 measuring spoon (tablespoon)
1 measuring spoon (½ teaspoon)
1 dry measuring cup for sugar
1 large wooden spoon for mixing
1 ladle for serving
*Whisk can be used if you really want a work out
Summary:
This recipe requires that you first create the liquid base for the eggnog by combining the egg yolks, part of the half & half, part of the heavy cream, the vanilla, the brandy, part of the sugar, the nutmeg, and the salt in a blender or mixing bowl. The rest of the half & half is used to rinse out the blender. You then make the whipped cream with the rest of the heavy cream and some of the sugar and fold it into the liquid base. Last you make the meringue with the egg whites and the some of the sugar and fold it into the liquid base. If there is any sugar left over then add it to the bowl containing the liquid mixture.
Directions:
Making the liquid base:
- Separate egg whites and yolks into two different bowls.
- Blend (in blender*******) egg yolks, ½ the quart of half & half, ½ pint heavy cream, vanilla, brandy, ¾ cup sugar (the other ¼ cup will be used in making the whip cream and meringue), nutmeg, and salt.
*******If you do not have a blender the ingredients can be combined in the large container/bowl and mixed with an electric mixer. If this is the case then you can just add in all the half & half before mixing. - Pour into large container (1 gal)
- Rinse the blender with remaining half & half and add to the container/bowl.
To make the whiped cream:
- Whip: (with an electric mixer) ½ pint of heavy cream with dash of sugar. Continue until the mixture has the consistency of whipped cream. Fold into mixture. Over whipping will cause it to become heavy and waxy so try to avoid that.
To make a soft meringue:
- Whip: Egg whites with dash of sugar till firm. Fold into mixture. Add any remaining sugar to mixture.
Store in jars or bottles (gallon (4 Liter) crock is good for short term) in refrigerator.
Mix the eggnog in the container/bowl gently before serving by folding in the foamy top of whipped cream and meringue. Try to mix in any nutmeg that has settled to the bottom. Ladle the mix into small mugs or glasses. It will have a nice foamy top on it.
Serve garnished with nutmeg and/or spike with additional brandy. It is always better the second day.
To serve more people just double, triple, etc. the recipe.
Follow the recipe as closely as you can. You can doctor or change it later. If you follow it, the results will be the same every time. The egg whites and whipped cream do not have to be whipped real heavy.
** Please remember that raw eggs can contain salmonella in some cases. Persons with weakened immune systems, the very young, or the very old, should not consume any product containing raw eggs. Pasteurized eggs can be purchased at some grocery stores and should be safe for all persons.*
Welp… Failsoft is finally throwing ads to get me to install Win11 on my laptop. My PC doesn’t fit the listed specs for it. So I shouldn’t have to worry about that.
I wonder how much longer before I have to jump to Linux.
Good lord, this soup event in Azure Span is just awful. Feels like it’s only getting worse as the days go on.
Ummm, I like it! I just wish it gave better rewards if you do it more than once a week. I got quite a few things from it though, and crafting mats. Tons of rep.
Soon I will have the Soupervisor title too.
Oh, don’t get me wrong-- the event itself is fun. But the zone-wide lag between that and the Cobalt Assembly farming groups that seems to be getting worse daily… not so much. They make the zone a chore to do literally anything when you’re waiting five seconds for game response.
I have yet to open world quests. Still haven’t finished campaign. Did get my Hunter to 70 this morning though. Now if I could just get more Knowledge Points in her Skinning. I need those rare tames!!
I opened World quests on my first 70 and also 2nd 70. Still waiting to get my DH to 70 as I’m almost to 65, but the booster shot I got Thursday kicked my hiney big time. Arm is still sore, and had a fever yesterday from it.
Ah this year it’s coming up fast! I got a few people left to hunt for and get their stuff wrapped up or shipped out.
Though I’m just hoping it ends up a cold Christmas and not one where I melt because it’s 80 degrees.
Since I had to see it …
… and it gets a whole lot worse than the few flavors listed
A cousin of mine had found some of the caesar salad ones in a store and I just cannot. I thought I was a rebel for wanting Sweettart-flavored ones over traditional mint back when there were only like the mint or fruity-flavored ones available, but this is just too far.
The joys of navigating the government bureaucracy…
Go through the process of online verification of my identity for the VA, then get told they are gonna send me an actual letter with my access code via snail mail. Government wheels do turn, but slowly.
All this just to get a representative/advocate. I gotta call Monday to find a VA location near me.
I wish you luck. Since I had my unexpected medical issues and emergency surgery back in March, it’s been a constant loophole of state mess, but with me facing down a possible third surgery now - I had to apply for federal disability to continue receiving my state benefits. I swear just the application is enough to make your brain bleed from your ears, and then to be told it’ll take at least three months for them to do all the research and whatnot to make sure I’ll qualify? It’s just a mess. It seems to be a constant back and forth of trying to find the right person or department and then waiting for them to contact you and then they need this or that.
The write-ups on the flavors are hilarious.
