So, an attempt was made. But I quickly realized I did not have the tools necessary for the job and nearly overheated trying to dig out enough around the post to get it out.
I gave up and hired someone

I want to complain about the heat, and while it is hot and humid, I know it’s worse in Texas and California (though California is a dry heat - that doesn’t count 
).
I took the dog out for a nice walk this morning before it started warming up. And that’s probably the extent of me going outside today, though I will have to take the dog out so she can sniff things.
Pretty sure I’d just cut the post at ground level and work around it. Or hire someone.
The post cracked across the base at ground level. You have to remove it to put a new one in so you can secure the fence back to the post.
I learned a lot 
It’s really hot and humid here. The heat index is 109. Last night a line of bad storms rolled thru. We got a flash flood warning here. Our yard just got a new pond that is slowly draining away. A tornado went thru the town where my mom used to live. It got ripped up pretty bad.
Mosquitos! Ack! 
And today will be clam chowder. 
I was once in Death Valley in early August. I never said “only a dry heat” after that.

Clearly I’m failing at something here.
Sleep apnea can cause heart conditions. Deadly ones. I’ve already lost MG, Alan and my bestie’s little sister to heart conditions. You go get the sleep study!
