happy 16th anniversary all
Where we lived in the 80s we were lucky to see a dozen Trick-or-Treaters. We moved to Newfoundland and the first year we stopped counting after 750. Where we are now the number depends on the temperature.
That was around the same number as we had this year. They started later than usual, and we saw a few after 8pm. They did that to better allow for social distancing.
Good morning all. We now enter the Christmas season… prepare for jingle bells
We had 8 this year. We put a bowl of Reese’s peanut butter cups and Kit Kats on a table on the front walk. The kids were so polite they each took only one. They spent more time admiring the pumpkins than anything else.
The mall music already switched
You bet! I’m soo ready for Christmas! I’ve pretty much done my shopping for this year. I only have a handful of more gifts to purchase for my family and friends.
Probably going to spend close to $1,000 total on gifts this year.
Where’s the downvote button. I haven’t even started.
My grandmother would normally start in June.
I have no idea how she’s handling it this year.
Here, the Christmas music doesn’t tend to start until after Remembrance/Veteran’s day as a sign of respect to our veterans.
But they started putting out the Christmas ornaments, lights, decorations and all before Halloween too
Oh hey, Barrel Monkey! Made anymore progress with Zelda?
I picked up WoW again and have been completely unproductive.
Also, I’m kind of surprised as to the current gold value of the token.
yeah, they should wait till after Remembrance Day before they put Christmas stuff up. i mean, i understand their reasoning…but they’ll have Valentine’s stuff out before Christmas even gets here, then Easter before Valentine’s Day.
I feel people are all itching for Christmas so that this year is over sooner. I know I feel like that. I am going to put out my turkey yard stake to celebrate the forgotten holiday tomorrow. It’s been snow flurrying on and off and super windy today.
My wife came up with an idea to use some of the 3-inch PVC we had from previous projects to make a delivery system from the front porch to the front sidewalk.
A quick on-line search found that others had also thought of this solution. Some of these solutions went beyond our implementation. We just made a 9 foot pipe using two 3-inch diameter leftovers attached to the railing of the steps to our front porch with large tie wraps and enhanced it by wrapping an LED rope light around it. We put a large stock pot on a small table at the delivery end of it so that when a Ferrero Rocher came down the tube it made a nice “dong” when impacting the stock pot. The recipients thought it was “cool”.
Some of the other implementations online were much cooler than ours, one had made the delivery end of the pipe look like a dragon’s head with the candy coming out the mouth.
Locally at least one person made a similar delivery system to ours, several people left “honor system” bowels of candy by their door, my next door neighbor threw candy from her porch with a “stay down there, try to catch it” and one neighbor attached individual bags of candy to their front fence with clothespins .
But almost nobody came.
I can say I didn’t let my kids go, nor did we turn on the light.
I already work hard to hopefully not bring it home. I strip in garage and clothes go immediately in wash, work shoes never leave car outside work etc.
Just safer as I am STILL terrified I will catch it at work. Provided direct care to like 5 people that have it at work now, most 15 days ago. But a few 11 days ago. Luckily I think I am more stringent with care requirements than what the regulations say haha
Luckily we get tested every Wednesday. Still scares the piss out of me though.
Speaking of work. Went in today on my day off to do perhaps an hour of paperwork so my boss did not have to give up part of her weekend. 4 hours later so much had changed after I left yesterday. Had to move over 40 people in the computer due to rearrangement. Then adjust our internal spreadaheet to match. Think I’m done then learn of two returning residents to adjust again, move tickets in kitchen, be so tired of looking at it mess up adjusting tickets and have to fix it.
Think I got it all done correct though. Will ask her to look it over tomorrow. Should be a whole lot easier for her though.
I have arthritis in my pretty much entire body. When it gets cold it gets particularly bad in my feet if I am not moving. Relaxes as I move.
There is one particular spot on my right foot on the top slash side of the outter arch. My 9 year old just spent 20 minutes squeezing it and laughing when I would grunt, suck air, and yes scream. It feels like pressing on a really bad nasty bruise as he was just poking, not squeezing.
Dont have AP so no boys tho seriously tempted for the wheel of time series.
20 ish kids couple of teenagers not bad each got bag of popcorn and a pop and some chocolate.
Definitely. The way we figure it, the kids have had so little joy this year, putting the decorations up a month early isn’t really that bad of a thing.
I totally know how you feel Masta, with the kids in school (face-to-face) and myself working there now, we’re taking enough risk, or at least as much as we’re comfortable with.
Everyone has their own level of risk comfort and I respect everyone and where they’re at
We had a Halloween like no other! We played video games (Luigi’s mansion 3), watched movies, ordered Chinese food and even had a bonfire last night!!
It was an awesome night Tonight, we have snow!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
And the hinge on my front load washer just broke causing the door to fall onto the ground.
Hopefully my local retailer has a replacement hinge in stock and I can figure out how to replace it. Or an appointment where they can come out and fix it tomorrow or something like that.
