Honestly, that sounds amazing right now. I say go for it, but I’ll admit I always enable you.
I will be doing chicken soup because it feels fallish.
Does Sheppard have that funny meat in it? I am not a fan of lamb or veal. It just tastes off to me.
I love a good Sheppard’s pie.
just try not to let them roll in deer carcasses. the Cenarion Circle will send you a citation for causing forest fires, and Smokey will be unamused.
I use Chromehound. He’s not firey at all. He’s also a bit smaller than the other ones.
True Shepherd’s Pie contains lamb it’s Irish, the English version is called Cottage Pie basically the same thing using beef. They have been known to be mixed up with each other.
Both have mashed potatoes on top, often some vegies mixed in (peas are a common choice).
I happen to love lamb in general (roast, stew, ground for burgers, pie …) but wouldn’t turn down a good cottage pie.
Naw ground beef. I am sure you can sub different meats as you see fit, but ground beef the way I make it.
Still debating. It sounds really good, just not entirely sure I want to make it. If I could sucker muh wife I to making it… Yeah right lol
Babe can you make… Naw we have a good system. You cook I eat. It works for me.
That is about how the conversation would go.
Lol
And my Irish self stands corrected haha
Corned beef is in the pot! It’ll be done in about 3 hours
I think I’m going to make a world (semi-) famous Mac and Cheese with bacon and chicken. And a ridiculous amount of cheese.
Hey Poctzarwaz.
I heard you were making a vat of gooey cheese, with bacon chicken and macaroni garnish.
i had this buffalo chicken mac and cheese. wasn’t half bad, though the cheese sauce was just a tad too spicy for my liking.
I could eat that. Mashed tatos and ground beef. I do most of the cooking but he has taken over the new indoor grill and makes a killer Sunday morning breakfast. We are (he is) going to try pork chops in the grill. I have been avoiding them for a few years because they seem over injected and always turn out soggy when you bake them. We shall see what turns out.
My Mom used to make what she called creamed hamburger over mashed potatoes with peas. That sounds like your shepherds pie minus the pie part. Most of the time she didn’t feel like making potatoes so she plopped it on a piece of white bread. Not the same. To this day I can’t eat soggy bread.
Actually, I’m making bacon and cheese, with chicken and pasta.
As someone once asked: “The recipe calls for five strips of bacon. Is a pound enough?”
Mmmm.
I have so much cheese in my fridge, I need to do something with it.
There can never be too much bacon. If it doesn’t fit eat the extra.
Not possible.
I made clam chowder yesterday. It calls for 3 strips of bacon. My husband made it in the nuker. I think it was about 20 strips. Just a bit extra for “test bacon”.
Here is how I make my Cottage Pie. It is nothing fancy, just meant to be quick and filling.
Kyzera’s Cottage Pie
Ingredients:
- 2-3 lbs ground beef (adjust as needed for your serving size)
- 2 cans triple succotash (drained)
- 1 quart low sodium beef broth
- 12 servings prepared instant mashed potatoes
- diced onions (to taste)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (your choice of type)
- assorted seasonings (salt, garlic, black pepper, onion powder, parsley, coriander, bay leaves) - to taste
Equipment:
I use a large saucepan that is about 2 inches deep and can be baked in the oven.
Directions:
- Cook the ground beef with the onions until the beef is browned.
- Drain off grease.
- Pour the beef broth into the pan.
- Add the triple succotash to pan.
- Add in your assorted seasonings to taste.
- Cook on medium heat for about 20-30 minutes.
- Then add the mashed potatoes on top.
- Cover the potatoes with the shredded cheese.
- Bake in oven at 350°F until the cheese and potatoes are lightly browned.
- Remove from oven and serve while hot.
