I have a Gmail account that I use for junk - some online shopping, registering on sites that I don’t trust completely, etc. I’ve always thought of it as pretty unique - it’s a weird shortening of the Spanish version of my name, and I think I might be the only person that remembers it, much less uses it.
Apparently not - I got an email saying that I needed to verify my Microsoft account. Huh? Okay… let’s just make sure everything is secure. Change the password, verify no email has gone out (or come in) that I don’t recognize. As I’m checking that, I get another email saying that “I” have changed the Microsoft email from xxxxxxxx@gmail to xxxxxxxx####@gmail. Well, the crisis has been averted, but how the heck did someone else come up with that?
But I really needed to change that password anyway. It’s been two years, and that change was because of a compromise, and it wasn’t the best change; it worked, but still pretty weak.
I’m not sure I completely follow this, but I’ll say that spammers / scammers will try the same user id with multiple email domains. So if they found your xxxxxx@gmail address, let’s say because you registered at a dubious website, they’ll also spam xxxxxx@hotmail, xxxxxx@yahoo, etc. It’s all automated anyway and the misses don’t hurt them.
Spamming is a lot like shooting a shotgun into a tree. A lot of your shot is going to miss, but if you shoot enough you’ll hit some birds. Only in the case of spammers they’re not paying for the ammo.

I like the Shadowlands. I love this whole cosmic warfare thing too. Strikes to Lovecraft-style writing, while also subverting it a little in the right way.
No. Beautiful fluffy snow this morning.
Now we shall see if people remember how to drive when I leave work haha.
Said up to 4 inches in some places. However I highly doubt that in the metro area.

About an inch piled up on the top of my car that survived the 14 mile drive home on the freeway haha.
Neighborhood streets are trash right now. City streets and freeways seem to be ok, exits though are a little more sketchy.
My biggest fear, however, is tomorrow morning. It is currently 31, and only going to drop overnight. All this snow is going to freeze. It will be a rough ride to work at 4 am tomorrow. Fo sho.
Its ok though, I have a snow route to work haha. Less turns, and entirely avoids (the main reason I go this way) the almost full turn at the interchange from one freeway to the other. Basically, turning from West to South, not the fast way haha.

My sister dropped off some ice for me. Couldn’t talk to her 'cause Covid. 
Just a little flushed right now, but my temp is stable, it’s the damn dry cough that is getting to me.
Oh, learned something new. Dad has been having “Covid dreams” for the past few days. I walked in on him on the phone with 911 saying I was in the car next to him catatonic. It’s took him a bit to wake up.

We haven’t had any “relearn how to drive in it” snow yet. Nothing has stuck. It’s been near 40 all day.
Flank steak on the grill with stinky garlic potatoes and a salad. 
And beer cause the Lions are playing.

Well, at least I haven’t lost my taste and smell. The neighbors found out me and dad was sick and made us dinner. Beef tips in gravy over rice and homemade tortillas
