Good morning, folks. Brain is being a bit slow today but it’s also a cloudy, yucky, rainy morning. I’ll blame that, yeah.
Good luck with voting if you’re doing that thing. Hope it isn’t too wild and crazy out there.

My civic duty has been discharged, and I’ve rewarded myself with pancakes and an omelet, and an extra large mocha. Also picked up an apple pie for dessert tonight.
I have waited my whole life to do jury duty and still haven’t. /sighs
I got summoned for duty once. It was a case involving child abuse. Due to the fact I used to work in a day care the defense lawyer seen it fit to dismiss me from the role.
Tiny bit of pay for my time and went about my day.
My county requires it of all citizens who are eligible so I have been called 3 times. Twice I had to go sit in a court room through selection for murder trials.
I did not serve on the jury though, thankfully.
I live in a rural area so they don’t have a lot of people to choose from.
I’ve also been summoned three times, once in Florida, twice in Minnesota. I didn’t get to serve either time here in MN. In FL, I was seated on a jury right off the bat, first thing Monday morning. Court adjourned for lunch, and by the time we got back into the jury box, case had been settled. It was a nice lunch, at least.
I got seated once a few years ago. It was a case where a guy was accused of firing into a building and hitting a child (the child lived), the trial was 3 months long. I actually found serving to be very rewarding and quite interesting. I would do it again if I were able to choose.
41 yrs old and havent been called yet.
Just got off of duty for September. Got called in one day out of the month, and they filled the box, stopping the row before me. (Ironically it was a trial for someone who had previously been on trial and decided in his great wisdom to go feral. Attacked several police officers and destroyed property in the courthouse.)
Over my life time I have been on 4 different juries. However, the murder case that I might have been on, the defense did not like me for some reason or another. Oh well!
I get called for jury duty all the time, but I have never served. I do like the new system where you call to see if you have to show up and then if you don’t for the week you are dismissed.
Having to change my entire sleep schedule to suddenly do mornings is rough. I am a nocturnal centaur.
I’ve never had the honour of being on a jury, though I’m a bit afraid it could be traumatic.
There are a lot of things in life I’m happy not being personally privy to.
Well, that sounds like trouble…
I’ll be avoiding my phone all night. 2016 I woke up in the middle of the night, saw the results, had a panic attack (either that, or a heart attack, but the doc says my ticker’s still good), and couldn’t fall back asleep. I’ll probably take some melatonin before I go to bed, just to be sure I sleep well.
Even though we probably won’t know the final result until later in the week.
I have a coworker that was called earlier this year, and just found out she has to do it again at the first of the year. And you’re not missing much.
The judge for the one trial I had to sit told us to contact his office if we wanted to learn more about the process and observe. He said he’d be happy to take time to talk with anyone that took him up on the offer.
I got called up twice for Jury duty. Never been seated, In fact I never even made it to the voir dire phase of jury duty.
Both times I reported every day and just looked at my phone until release at about 2-3 PM. The good news though is that in Alabama your employer still pays you as if you were at work. They aren’t allowed to change your normal schedule or anything similar.
It was pretty funny when the Head Judge came down to speak with us on the first day. They made it clear if for any reason your employer attempts to not pay you. Adjust your schedule or anything else along those lines to inform him. And he will be happy to make a phone call.
So jury site isn’t so bad here. You don’t lose any money from work if employed through a company. And everyone was actually pretty fun.
The sheriff’s got tired of my going in out of the building to smoke and checking me every time. So they ended up telling to stand in front of the doors where they could see me at all times so I didn’t have to be constantly re checked for anything I shouldn’t have.
I found something useful to do with my massive anxiety. Knee seems stable enough so… I went back to doing outdoor work that involves ladders!
I now have tea. Cats are fed. At least I channeled it into something productive and did not actually fall again.
EDIT
Vault gave my mage a Champion weapon today! I did not really do much last week to fill up the vault so it was nice my one char who had one decent slot got a decent item.
