Day 4 of my vacation. I got off the train on Thursday night and we stayed in a hotel before driving back in the morning. My train was delayed by two hours. So I lost quite a bit of sleep. I noded off during the drive to my parents and missed a good chunk of the mtns along the 80 to reno.

I made stock the other day from scratch. I wanted to do something a bit different and seeing as I have a cold, and don’t feel great, I decided today to make Jook or Congee. I have never actually had it. It sounds like fantastic soothing comfort food though esp when I don’t feel well. Just added the fresh ginger and garlic. Will top with soy, toasted sesame seeds, and sliced green onion I think.

Hopefully this comes out well. I think the hard part is not burning it once it starts to thicken!

Currently enjoying that special scent that you generally get only once a year: when you run your furnace for the first time of the season and it burns off all the dust it’s been collecting all year.

I use it all the time

As I did not see anyone post it here, rest in peace Phil Lesh. He brought much joy and music to many people.

Morning folks.

Think it’s safe to say I made a full bounce back from my liver transplant. I feel so much better than I have in a very long time. Actually eating like normal, able to move without getting lightheaded or almost passing out, medicine not actively ruining me…It’s pretty great.

A good end of the year. Took a bit of a hot minute but the future is looking good.

Likewise! Hoping you’ve been doing alright as well. That fall from a bit ago didn’t have any complications, I’m hoping?

Have to admit I was thinking there wasn’t going to be an end but feel like I’m finally getting there.

Fall sucked a lot! There is still blood spatter on the stepping stones because we have not had rain.

As of yesterday the knee is healing well. I can now go up and down stairs a few times while walking normally! It is holding my weight. Going to take some time to get full range of motion and strength back, but nothing is actually torn. Hand that got crushed is no longer black and blue but I can’t hold/lift much weight esp with the outer two fingers. Healing as well. Ribs hurt like hell. Going to be a bit on those. Not broken, just ribs doing rib things. They always take forever to heal.

All in all, good! Certainly progress in the right direction. So glad nothing major actually broke.

Your news though, best news! Transplant surgery is so rare and risky but so very life changing! So glad it is not being rejected and it working! You have a lots of life left to live now.
