[CS Lounge] Fall Festivities and Friends!

I grew up wearing socks all the time as I hate being barefoot

I’d be running in the grass with muddy socks. My kids, though, insist on being barefoot all the time. And I’m like it’s 20 degrees outside y’all

There were kids in my old neighborhood running around in this freezing weather with barely a stitch of clothing

If you burnt your Hawaiian Pizza, you should have used aloha temperature.

Pretty darn cold here today. And the wind is BRUTAL. And we got probably three inches of snow overnight. And since it was just warm enough to mist a little yesterday afternoon, it’s covering a light layer of ice, so it’s super slick out there. About killed myself a few times while we were out for our morning walk. Glad I don’t have to drive anywhere today.

Good morning all! We are having a very cold, windy, and snow shower-ish morning here in the Mid Atlantic. I see others are having some lovely snow! Please be safe if you have to go out.

Snuggling inside today which just seem logical. It also feels like a cocoa kind of day.

/Sets out hot cocoa and toppings, vats of hot coffee, hot water, teas, crusty home made bread for toast, bagels, orange cranberry muffins, and fruit. No pie today.

:coffee: :dracthyr_tea: :teapot: :bubble_tea: :bread:

I love it when I have a package coming in the mail.
I also hate it, because I keep running to the door to check and see if it’s there.
I think I wear a fresh hole in the floor with every package I receive.

I have a weird package problem. So where I live doesn’t cooperate at all with GPS. And I mean like at all. So whenever someone around me orders something, GPS brings them to my house. Do they bother checking the number of the house? Nope. So I have had to play mailman more than a few times, because they just can’t be bothered to do it right.

Please be careful. Signed, someone who slipped on the thinnest layer of ice in January and broke an ankle.

(Thicker ice might have been better - I think the damage happened not from the sliding but when the sliding got abruptly stopped by a patch that wasn’t icy. Though who knows, maybe on thicker ice I would have hit harder with my upper body and cracked my head or something.)

Morning folks.

Feeling meh today. Mind being unfriendly, the receptionist who said she sent me an invite to that support group…didn’t, (I don’t want to call back: It could very well be someone different and I know the hospital the PsyD is based on is busy) and I’ve heard nothing about the meeting tomorrow. Already bothered the guy during his PTO and think I’ve been more than pressing.

A lot of things I was pretty excited for this week aren’t really turning out. I’ll have other options of course but kinda disappointed as a whole.

Just going to stay warm and not dwell on it.

^Same!

All of the houses in my immediate area end with a certain color and it seems most people don’t actually check to see which word is in front of that color before they drop off the packages.

The neighbor exactly one street over from us with the same address numbers, is in a constant package exchange between our two household. More so during the holiday season. Thankfully after years it’s just become a routine, if either of our household’s were to move it would be a problem for sure.

Please DO call them back. Check your texts, email, and if they have an online patient portal then it might be there instead.

It is very very important that you get the support group sorted. The meds you are on play havoc with your emotional control and it is not a fault of YOURS. Having others who are dealing with the same thing matters more than you think.

Took a bit of self convincing but I did. Turns out they missed a single letter in my email. I called just after the group has finished for today but will be added to future groups.

Unfortunately next week is for caretakers so can’t join in then, but hey, one less worry down the road.

Thanks again, Mirasol. Always feel like you’re giving me a nudge in the right direction when my head isn’t agreeing.

That happens to the houses around me, because no one understands that our mailbox isn’t in front of our house, it’s across the street.

Our home plan is set up oddly in that the mail will only drive down one side of the road, so all mailboxes are on one side. And if a driveway is in the way… then the mailbox for the house isn’t in front of the house. And no one checks numbers. So our packages go elsewhere and vice versa.

Some of our neighbors are only summer renters and don’t care, so people don’t get their stuff.

We had that issue with not getting kitten’s prescription food, because they delivered it to another house and that house refused to give it to us.

Oh, I’ve slipped pretty bad before - landed right on the tailbone. Thought I’d broken it, due to the pain, but after a few urgent care visits (and x-rays - imagine trying to lay flat on a severely painful tailbone bruise - OUCH!), we found the actual problem and got it sorted.

There’s a guy in England that has my exact email address, except where I have a doubled letter, he has a single letter (think latter vs later). First time I got an email for him, it was a fantasy soccer/football league discussion. Then I got a couple interview requests (and some background questions) since he was taking over an assistant coaching position for a lower-tier soccer league. I forwarded that, and several more over the years. Last I actually conversed with him, he was getting ready to open a restaurant, and buying a flat.

Done that before. Wooden staircase and wool socks about fifteen years ago.

Remember it like it was last year. Not a fun experience and it took months to heal.

Sliped on ice years ago landed on mynleg my cell probably prevented more harm to my leg by busted my cell.

Jeez. A letter can make all the difference.

And be careful out there! Here it’s just super cold: No snow, no heavy winds, nothing. Just a lot of cold and it going a lot of nowhere. Ice downright terrifies me though.

Don’t worry about that. I’m in a job where we’re usually busy helping in-person customers and it’s also our job to answer the phone. Busy just comes with the territory. I won’t say I’ve never been exasperated by the phone ringing off the hook on a bad day, but I will say that that’s on me, not the people calling. If someone regularly can’t cope with that, they are in the wrong job.

It won’t stop snowing

We could see close to 2-feet of snow by tomorrow morning!!

/adds more wood to the fire

So the ball I managed to get stuck in the tree last weekend finally came down this afternoon. So Onyx got a little playtime in the snow.

And Chili is on the stove, simmering. Just about done, I should think, so I think I’ll go have dinner now.
