Drinks some iced tea as I watches the threads this morning.

I wonder what they will have in the December trading post. I love all the Christmasy stuff.

Yes, yes they are. It is that kind of week I think!

/Deep cleans the lounge, fluffs the pillows, stokes the fire. Sets out fresh hot vats of coffee, sturdy mugs, hot water, cocoa, and an assortment of cold drinks. A wide assortment of teas, cocoa toppings, coffee add-ins, and even peppermint sticks to stir with sit on the beverage counter. The gnome pool is filled and clean. A basket of fresh warm towels next to it.

:coffee: :teapot: :dracthyr_tea: :bubble_tea:

Someone else can do the breakfast and snack counter today.

Thanksgiving here is a solo thing. Not that I could not go somewhere if I wanted, but I really don’t want to! I hate the driving, and end up so anxious/sensory overwhelmed that I can’t even eat. It just goes badly. I am thawing chicken, which I prefer instead of turkey. Will have that with sweet potatoes, normal rosemary roasted potatoes, stuffing, cranberry, gravy, and a nice cranberry walnut salad with vinaigrette. We are going to have lousy weather so this feels like an even better idea the more I think of it.

There is just me and my 2 sons. I much prefer that to the huge family get togethers we had as a kid.

As long as it’s confined to the month of December, it’s fine.

We don’t need Christmas music before thanksgiving, or after new year.

I would but…

I got no food until I can do shopping in the morning :sob:

In many cultures, including the Philippines, Christmas is a multi-month event. They do so many different family and church gatherings.

That sounds horrible - hearing Xmas songs for many months would drive folks crazy. At least in the states, some places will go ham for that event.

I thought for most Christian variations the Christmas Season started Dec 6th with St. Nicholas Day and for some ends on Three Kings Day/Feast of the Epiphany on Jan 6th. That does technically span 2 months.

Depending on which traditions they follow the gift day can be either of those or the 25th. There are a ton of religious services around all those dates though. For some the 25th is a feast date with a very intricate set of foods.

I have friends from different backgrounds who do various ones. Always fun to remember who celebrates Dec 6th vs who celebrates Jan 6th!

May as well say it now while they’re in the office:

Hope all the blues here have a nice Thanksgiving, may it be done in part to man the forums, or having to here or with family. Just try to take care of yourselves and your family.

It just occurred to me that the lounge spread for tomorrow needs to be EPIC!

Ham is for Easter. Christmas is roast beef, and Thanksgiving is turkey. At least at my house.

Ham is for sandwiches when you also add everything into the sandwich.

We don’t do Easter but ditto for the other two! People live too far away now though.

Oh, and sometimes we do have ham…but it is Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham which is a totally different beast and best in sandwiches. Little soft rolls usually. Very much part of the Holidays but not the main dinner meal.

I don’t like Thanksgiving turkey as much as I like leftover turkey sandwiches. Miracle Whip used to be a requirement for those, but now I prefer mayonnaise.

In a Catholic family here, and this is pretty much our norm.

Although, my mother likes to put the tree and decorations up the day after Thanksgiving. A lot of our neighbors have started decorating already. My neighborhood usually goes all out on the holidays. It’s fun to walk or drive around and see what everyone did to their house for the holiday season.

Likely last time I’m posting here. I figured I’d try to be more helpful towards folks after my surgery and, you know, try to be a better person.

I was stupid, as I often am.

Posts I make are often completely ignored, prompt people to insult me or are nitpicked for the slightest corrections that no one really cares about, but you know, gotta correct even the tiny things. In game I’m either yelled at, insulted via whispers or flat out ignored. It really is more or less World of Solocraft for me, and I don’t think that’s ever going to change regardless what I do.

I’m mostly stuck at home with nowhere to go. Who knows, my boss’ boss may meet with me on the 6th and tell me to go away. I wouldn’t blame him, not like I deserve anything better after me being gone most of the year in a hospital room.

Worst of all I got this liver and I’ll never be able to pay it back. I don’t even think I deserve it. I wish I said I didn’t want the liver, I wish I said I didn’t want the transplant anymore. It would go to someone more deserving.

I was stupid to think things would change. Guess that’s one thing that will never change with me.

Happy Thanksgiving, I guess.

Please reach out to your medical support team. Now. The emotional swings are normal, but really really tough. So is the guilt. You did nothing wrong and people don’t hate you.

You do need support right now though - from folks qualified to help you. You got this, even if it is a hard journey.

P.S. You ARE helpful and I do appreciate you. I am sure others do too. Do not let the push back get to you. They go after me just for being green and argue nearly anything I say. I am the enemy and opposition today, apparently. Never take it personally as a sign of failure when someone on the internet won’t listen or appreciate you.

Example from a few mins ago.

Never let that sort of thing get to you.
