That and some of the new TV’s are trying to reserve screen space for advertisements.
As for the spying. Last I heard it’s via Bluetooth. Specifically, IoT. Internet of Things. They’re doing it with fridges too.
If they’re going to be putting ads on my TV, it better be reasonably priced.

A number of (most? all?) TVs also collect viewer habit data and transmit it to the mothership. Vizio got sued for doing it, I thiiink it was because they weren’t telling people they were. I think it was Samsung which went under the hammer for sending that information plaintext.
There’s also the issue of long-term support. Do you really trust these companies to run a tight ship? The east coast got knocked offline a while back because of attacks by compromised security cams.
Ring security systems have been accused of saving the video and sending it back to the company.
I also learned that the Bluetooth devices will share the info until it finds an internet connection. So it could bounce to a neighbors open wifi or another device that has access to a passworded connect. Which includes people walking by your house with Bluetooth and mobile data turned on.
Even turning off Bluetooth doesn’t stop it for some.

then again, i haven’t paying much attention to what’s going into theatres lately. haven’t been there since i went to see Frozen 2 with family.
i legit read that as bubble and thought “why do you need a bubble for matzo ball soup?” then read it again and was like "right, i gotta stop reading things past 22:00.
i still remember the words of my grandmother (may God rest her soul) she’d always mute commercials, saying “i may have to watch them, but i don’t have to listen to them!” something i did back when i had cable. 
that being said, ima call it a night…

Finaly watched ep4 of wot now im wondering now that weve seen saidar and saidin since saidin is black that could signify 2 things is it black to signify the difference between the 2 or is it black because of the taint and is white underneath.
As much as I’ve been ready and waiting for winter to finally get here…

I’m level 59 with my MagOrc Krushkill. Leveled him strictly though Torgast. He’s sitting on 5000+ Soul ash now. Just need to get the missives, memory and leggo plate belt and I’ll be ready for anything when I hit 60
