If you mean the forums, Ignore is a wonderful tool. Let the Mods deal with it. Discussing forum moderation and removal of posts is not allowed, further they don’t like it being brought into the Lounge. Nor do I! Good vibes in the lounge only!

If you mean IRl I really hope things are ok! Be safe friend!

I’m here to derail the derailment!

What is something y’all do before a snow storm? Or, for those who don’t get snow, any potential weather phenomenon that you hunker down for.

I order way too much Chinese food with lots of wonton soup because I treat the projected 5 inches of snow we’re getting like the world is going to end.

Dust off the moose and fill up the snowmobile to get to work.

It’s Sunday and I’m just as bad off, if not worse than I was on Friday. I basically just attempted to sleep in my recliner chair all of Saturday, only getting up to use the restroom and schlep to the front door to grab the 14 TB HD I ordered from WD ($299 + tax for this model as it’s on clearance). Not bad for a datacenter HD. It’ll be getting all of my game + dvd/blu-ray rips from my current drive used in macOS and it’ll have enough room left for both my Battlestar Galactica (OG and 2k4 remake) blu-rays + my Sailor Moon collection. Yes, I’m a guy and I like Sailor Moon. Beats the bejeebus out of G.I. Joe.

I’ve taken some tylenol + advil in the hopes that staves off the pain long enough for me to recover somewhat, but currently I’m limited to short shallow breaths as deeper breaths cause immense pain on my *good* (left) side. Suffice it to say, no soy bueno.

Every time you post this I’m reminded of the fruit display at the bottom of Ms. Pac Man screens. So you are now MissCheetah Man. waka waka

I’m one of those people. Always make sure to have milk, bread and toilet paper. And of course plenty of supplies for the furballs. Lately I’ve been making sure I’ve got good soup/comfort food fixings because I’ve been in that sort of mode. Make sure I’ve got ample gas in the car, and I’ll put the snow/frost windshield cover on.

Not supposed to be much precipitation today, but even though its still several days out, tentatively looking to be a hefty 4-8 inches of snow midweek over here in the Mid-Atlantic.

I am too but I operate that way all the time. Storms are kind of no big deal. Car is in the garage and I have weeks of supplies handy. I might get BORED eventually if I ever get down to the bottom of the freezer, dry goods, and cans - but I won’t starve. Really bad storms I also fill the water containers and 3 of the 5 gal buckets. Buckets are in the bathtub so I don’t have to pick them up and can easily empty later. Car is in the garage and has lots of gas. Snow shovels are on the back screen porch in easy reach.

Charging all the things today in case we lose power in the ice storm. I also like to have the house work done and a shower. That way if I can’t do dishes or vacuum for a bit, everything at least starts out clean!

Tias, it is Saturday in your location.

I just made a FB post about this last night, but the older I get the more and more I want soup. This whole winter has been me running for a bowl the minute I feel a chill.

Aaaaaaaaaand that should tell you how screwed up I am. That also means I’m stuck going out to the mailbox today when I thought I could just stay curled up inside. Can’t let mail sit in the box outside for any length of time during tax season.

So far, I’ve had to reassign two tickets that my team received overnight that weren’t ours, and a phone call that wasn’t ours. Which, honestly, is “busier” than a normal Saturday, even if it’s no real work.

You do know that mail will be there tomorrow (or Monday, or whenever)…

I’m trying so hard to resist engaging but if this isn’t dealt with, the Daedra might win my soul today

Complain loudly about how I’m going to have to shovel the driveway, because hubby doesn’t have all wheel drive. lol

This sounds like a problem he might need to deal with, unless of course shoveling is not something he can currently do!

I will have to shovel the driveway IF I need to get my car out of the garage, but the driveway is short, very short. Way better than having to shovel the car out of the on-the-street parking.

It can help a lot to preemptively salt the area and then shovel while it’s still snowing to minimize the effort you have to put in later on.

He leaves for work at 7am, so when it snows overnight and through the day, I’m the one home that has to shovel so he can get up the driveway.

Ours always looks short when I start shoveling… then like an hour later, I’m standing there going, “… what was I thinking?”

Our snow storms usually come during overnight when we’re sleeping. And the last time I salted prior to the four inches of snow… I ended up with an inch of ice and three inches of snow. LOL

He can take a running start from down below and pray he don’t hit something.

We tried that once. It didn’t end well and I had to get the car out of the side ditch.

Oh no!

Does anyone else keep an emergency kit/stove and such handy? How long could you go without power for example? Generator?

I do not have a generator so my fridge and freezer would suffer in warm weather if power was out for more than a day or two.

No generator here (though if mom got the plug-in hybrid like she was planning, that would have been covered). Everything else, I could probably last a bit longer than most without power. I have my camping gear (stove, water filter, backpacking food), and a fireplace. But firewood might be a little issue since mom never uses it.

And all you folks complaining about shoveling need to look up the Yooper Scooper. Problem solved.
