Apparently my doc told me what I was told by nursing staff and doctors at work to most likely be bursitis never was. It was this all along. He said he could see signs of an old chronic injury, probably from wrestling at a high level
That was a large factor in wanting me to do physical therapy to strengthen the area properly as opposed to waiting for this to happen again and hopefully erase any chance of a need for surgery in my older years.
And Msbecky, fo sho. It takes a lot to even get me to take medicine. Part of my family has, shall we say an addictive personality? I am very black and white in this regard. My wife knows it is bad when I reach for the tylonol or Motrin. She was surprised I went to the doc in the first place. That is how she knew it was bad.
I have an aversion to taking meds. I have an aspirin/yellow#5/ green pepper allergy. Itâs amazing the names they can come up with to hide that itâs yellow5. I just had to change my bp meds because it was giving me hives.
I once worked for three departments and two divisions within the same year, without changing jobs.
During my career I survived 21 restructurings and layoffs/downsizings/ Reductions in force /rightsizings/ Re-engineering plans/ Smartsizings/ restructuring exercises/ and my all-time favorite, finding synergies.
Never saw one done well.
To quote myself on the related topic of outsourcing:
In the 90s a popular justification for outsourcing was that workers in (China, the Philippines, take your pick) would perform the same tasks cheaper.
Yet in spite of the fact that upper management in (South Korea, India, âŚ) worked for much less than their American counterparts, in fact a much larger offset than in the case of the workersâ positions being outsourced, no board of directors ever suggested outsourcing the CEO, CFO, COO et al. to Korea.
Yeah, me and corporate America donât get along for much the same reason. I worked for a Fortune 100 company for over 15 years. In that time I saw the same thing you did. It came for me four years ago, my job was outsourced, not only that but we had to stay on and train the people that they outsourced to. If we didnât we werenât going to be able to get our severance (and I donât think I have to tell you how good a package is when you have 15 years in).
It ended up being the best thing that could have happened. I got to get a job with a company that is international but still small enough to feel like a small family owned operation (we arenât public), and I get to work from home and do something I like that is easy and low stress.
As a follow up, the outsourcing ended up being a disaster and they had to bring the work back to America in less then two years.
I heard a similar thing happened to the place I was at years after I was laid off.
While I was there they sent people to Porto Rico to train people for a new facility. This was supposed to be a HUGH tax right off to help promote the economy there.
The place went belly up when a large chunk of the employees decided they werenât going to work anymore. They were getting paid great too. No actual issues from what I heard.
I was thinking about that yesterday. I forgot to ask.
I never kept track of when I sent it. Probably why it popped in my head. Maybe my spirit animal was trying to remind me.
Kind of. Activision Publishing Inc. merged with Vivendi (Sierra and Blizzardâs holding company) to form Activision Blizzard, which was the name from the start. A-B is also a holding company, but Activision Publishingâs recent failures seem to have set off something.
Oh god, the Diablo 3 forums are the absolute worst. Iâm in the same boat of disappointment with recent handling of the Diablo series, but jeeze. Not gonna go into my full thing on my experiences with them, because it would get inappropriate fast, but man.
Also, personally, I donât think Diablo 2 is all that great these days. Certainly I canât go back to it after Diablo 3, just too poorly aged.
I too worked for a fortune 500 company for 17 years which went belly up and each company was sold off to private sectors which I survived and then 5 years later another fortune 500 company bought us and decided that the product we made here in America were made too good so they outsourced from a company in Japan and put the âAmericanâ name on it.
Luckily I got a much better job however I had to travel a lot but the company allowed me to keep all airline miles and motel points which was cool also me being the only unmarried one in the department I got to go to the Caribbean once a year for a whole month; That was cool; Also met my soulmate in China and been married to her now for 7 years this past Feb 2nd.
Sometimes things happen for the better; At least it did for me!
I was on some good ones back in 2013 when I broke my leg falling from the ladder while putting Christmas lights up on the gutters (Felt like I was falling in slow motion then when I hit the ground I saw my leg break at 90 degrees; Looked like something from the NFL); Crushed my Fibula and broke the Tibia on my right leg was on prescribed painkillers for 3 years now Iâm off them but can tell when wet weather is coming; LOL.
PS: No more Christmas lights on the gutters since; LOL!
My sister has arthritis in her knees and has been told they need to be replaced 5 years ago; She went with the cortisone shot and it lasted 5 years until she just got another here recently, Weâll see how long this shot lasts.
