Cruel barb, hunter vs rogue(long story)

7 agility means 14 AP.

so they should be learning good group and loot etiquette early on shouldn’t they?

Then you educate them, not treat them like they killed your dog.

If that’s the case and the person rolling genuinely didn’t know, that’s a different story and you provide a teachable moment.

But the OP isn’t that case - or at least that’s not what it sounds like from what I’ve read.

and some crit. so its a little more then 14 AP. despite your fondest wish otherwise.
either way, it’s still going to have a larger impact on the rogue.
the difference between harpoon and 2 cruel barbs is less then 1 dps for a hunter (assuming 12 ap = 1 dps).
i guarantee you a rogue picking up cruel barb will see a bigger dps increase then 1 dps.

i agree, i don’t agree with what the guild did, and if you read my initial post, it was educating.

It’s normal for people to want to defend themselves and be stubborn about it.

There’s no way of knowing if the OP takes it to heart until a similar situation happens later.

He’s already being treated like he’s blacklisted though which is a bit ridiculous.

It’s not enough to make up a 10 difference.

it’s still a much bigger upgrade for the rogue then it is for the hunter though.
that is the point.
as a rogue i would never take a bow over a hunter, because a bow is a hunters primary source of damage. it makes more sense for him to have it over a melee.
just as it makes more sense for a melee weapon to go to a melee over a hunter.

the difference between harpoon and 2 cruel barbs for a hunter is LESS THEN 1 DPS.

OP is the reason “Huntards” became a word and the “every weapon is a hunter weapon” meme is real.

Keep defending the Hunter and feel free to do the same thing just don’t be surprised when you can’t find a guild to raid with at 60.

When I was raiding in vanilla as a hunter I passed on Barb of the Sand Reaver
in favor of are arms warrior using it.

It would have been a nice stat stick for sure, but there is an Etiquette that most players follow when dealing with gear in Vanilla (mainly raiding) that what benefits the raid as a whole takes president over the individual gain.

It is a learning experience for sure for new players giving classic a try, that just because you can /need on something doesn’t mean you should always need on it.

Also something to remember, in Vanilla and I am sure classic as well, you have to do a lot of butt kissing/ego massaging when it comes to guild participation and having a raiding spot.

You say that you wouldn’t, I say that I wouldn’t, we are not everyone. Like I said, imagine playing a class where you considered a ninja because you want to be geared in something other than vendor sold whites.

Also below 30 1dps means more than a person would think.

You will never know the pain that tranq shot brings.

you mean like when rogues would get called ninjas for rolling on bows despite hunters rolling on leather.
yeah totally saw that happen too.

Meh just leave the guild and find a new one.

That said, I think it’s fine if you needed on it. It’s something up for grabs. Keep in mind too though that if a ranged weapon were to drop and someone else could use it’s stats they’d probably need on it too.

lol jokes on you already got a guild now get out <3

So this guy rolled on an item in a lowbie dungeon.
Their guild, then the forumites get their panties in a twist.

Sounds about right.

Yeah hunters needing on swords and such is fine imo. If it doesn’t have a proc in hut effect, and it’s an upgrade for you, then it’s an upgrade and you taking it is fine.

That being said, melee weapons are stat sticks for hunters, and they’re a primary dps item for rogues, so the rogue would obviously get more use from it, and it would be more viable for him than you. Part of Classic was people being somewhat polite and understanding. I wouldn’t make a big deal of you taking it instead of letting the rogue have it, but I likely wouldn’t want to group with you in the future either.

As to the guild drama, if you’re constantly looking for reassume this that you’re in the right, then you’re probably not in the right. You spoke to the rogue, then to the mage, then to your guild, then more to your guild, and now the forums. If everyone’s telling you that you were wrong, maybe quit asking.

Don’t worry, people like you always get figured out and end up just bouncing around trade chat guilds until fading away.

Like hunters rolling on the VC or WC leather sets. Any melee weapon or any thing really. There isn’t many ranged weapons that give me stats.
