So I am hunter and I can duel wield daggers/swords/axes. I was in a party and the cruel barb dropped and I needed on it and so did the rogue. I won it. He was like "… in chat. I spoke to his friend mage that was running with us and I said I won it , I need ap to. He agreed and said his friend the rouge would be okay. I said , hey Im willing to run again to get him that. But they dropped group, keep in mind I was running with my guild mates(tank and heals) which I have never met before. It was a good run, no wipes. anyways. I told my guild that I got it and they were upset at me and my guild leader said that I would most likely not be invited to groups/raids because I needed on a sword. I said why…I need ap as well it does stack on my range weapon. All of them said I was in the wrong and should have let the rogue have it. I said again “why”? Because they will use it more? lol. I said rogues will get rid of it as soon as they have a better dagger. Sword rogue is hard to come by is what I was saying but they didnt seem to get it. Now the guild think’s I’m an a**hole ninja looting fool. But ya know what I really think, I think they just a reason to get rid of me. because for one I dont join their clicks and for two I dont put up with BS. Anyways, I was sad when My guild leader said that to me…I knew than something wasn’t/isnt right and I was sitting there and one of the guild leaders got a hold of me and asked me if I was okay and I said hell no. He said don’t worry about it. I said okay and we had some laughs. Than I said something in guild chat, just something normal about the game and one guy said “why should we listen to you your banned from groups, You looted something you shouldn’t have” . This is where I lost it I think…I said no I did not do that at all in fact I looted something I needed. They all dissagreed…so I just said okay well I was there in vanilla, I needed it just as much as a rogue. They said that no I was in the wrong because I do not do melee dps. I said yes I do melee dps but the point of the item is that is +12ap with ranged weapons…I told them that three guys in the group understood that, not the rogue though. Than I ended up inviting the mage to our guild and he wanted his rogue friend to come and I said I can’t invite all the time man, we have a limit and he understood that. but now I don’t even care and I will always be out casted in guilds and I think its because I don’t put up with bullchit and I will always stick up for myself. Officers don’t like that. Also If im not all buddy buddy with them…I choose whom I want to play with and be friends with. That one officer though that told me just to let it go and forget about it, he is very nice. I was really upset. I mean over a lvl 19 weapon. I told my gm and guild mates if I get kicked for this so be it. what a joke…
First of all paragraphs man.
Secondly, as a hunter you should probably take a backseat on melee weapons over melee. And the same is true with melee taking a back seat on ranged weapons.
All cruel barb gives you is 12 ap.
For the rogue its a heck of a lot more
lol sorry about the paragraphs and I disagree, ap is ap I use melee too.
You shouldnt be meleeing though. If you are youre doing it wrong.
But hey if thats your standard dont get upset when you lose ranged weapons to melee
I need to use melee sometimes, its standard for my class.
As someone who has leveled hunters in vanilla and bc, if you are in melee, you did something wrong. (Taming doesnt count)
That said. Youve set your standard. Dont get upset when you lose a bow or gun to a warrior or rogue.
While you can try to play the game to whatever standard you desire the community can agree that Hunters are RANGED and should have priority to ranged weapons just as Rogues/Warriors are MELEE and have priority to melee weapons. Hunters do have a few melee abilities but any serious hunter past level 10 should be at ranged while their pet does all the dirty melee work. This is why you are outcasted as it seems because people see you going against what is commonly considered a basic etiquette of the classes for your own selfish gains.
I know thats not what you want to hear but if you dont want to be outcasted then you gotta understand that community perception is that you are ranged and melee weapons are just stat sticks to you and should not be your priority.
Even I know not to need on non primary weapons and look at my name.
Its fine. Just dont group with hunters like wicked
all those hunter stats. grats bro nice roll
So, some rights and wrongs here. Others are right that you should stick to rolling on ranged stuff, not be worried about melee weapons.
Anyway, I would say quit the guild and just find another. But, it’s entirely up to you. Banning a guildie from future guild dungeon/raid runs, for needing on something, that was not entirely a guild run, AND against a non-guildie, just because of disagreements is ridiculous, they need to get over themselves.
Agree the guild over reacted, but wicked is a classic example of
- why hunters have a bad image.
- why the “hunter loot” meme exists.
- why i lay very careful loot rules in any dungeon im in
That’s true.
Omg the exact same thing happened to me on my mage the other day while i was running deadmines!!
Cruel Barbs are great for Wing Clipping though, amirite?
And that bow someone is going to steal from wicked is great for pulling!
Even if you “need” to melee, you’re much better of with a good 2hander.
If you want stat sticks then grab some greens with agility and stamina/int off AH.
Also this, don’t complain when it happens.
Karmic comeuppance will be magical.
IN a low level dungeon like Deadmines this isnt really a problem, just a learning experience and move on. It only becomes a real issue at high level dungeons and raids when they expect to be given priority to melee weapons designed for melee. Generally Polearms are great for hunters since Warriors normally want Swords/Axes and Rogues cant use polearms.
You have to account for the fact that.
You’re a hunter (One of the easiest classes to level on)
He was a rogue (One of the hardest classes to level on)
Sure you can use the item, and yes the stat bonus is nice.
But for you it’s just a slight upgrade, barely even a convenience tbh. For him it’s the difference between Living or countless graveyard runs. Rogues/Warriors/Pallys rely heavily on good weapons. While hunters kinda just sail on through.
So yes it’s helpful for a hunter, but it’s a major BM.
