The biggest issue with the imbalances to population back then was the servers could only hold about 3000 people and that was max. Nowadays servers can hold double that probably closer to 8000+.
1) It didn't matter if queue times were long because an hour meant nothing in Vanilla. Whether it was farming, getting groups together, questing, or world pvping with people who could recognize you, these things soaked immense amounts of time. You do have the option to casually sit in an AV for the entire day after waiting for one queue.
2) Cross realm BGs diminish identity. Diminish needs to socialize with your server and actually have a reputation that would follow you. Also diminishes the challenge of getting GM.
4) Confirmed pre-bc garbage
3) If there are cross realms it's an easy decision whether to play or not to play imo

No cross realms
I really hope they decide not to implement cross realm battlegrounds. I'd rather have the community that forms from familiarity and opposite faction rivalries. It just adds way more flavor to the game adding that aspect. Additionally, the cons that come with unaccountability just wreck the experience. What does it matter how fast the bg que's up, if you're crippled by afkaver's and their ilk?
Because we donât have information on server pop caps or number of servers,
cross realms should be evaluated post launch and at a later date TBD.
That said, I firmly believe that adding cross realm is more detrimental to community than beneficial. Removing player identify and more importantly accountability, for the sake of instant gratification is the kind of decision and change in player attitudes that lead us to retail.
Simply put, if you start sacrificing RPG elements for greater convenience then where does it end?

No cross-realm battlegrounds.
Yes, this may lengthen queue times. Considerably in some cases. And yes, BG PVP was my personal favorite part of WoW. But Classic is about creating a world that recreates those things we all loved the most about Vanilla WoW - the pleasures and the hardships. I want to be able to return to that world I plunged into back in Dec 2004.
That said, WoW Classic is not about recreating the frenzy that existed back in the day. The pace, for the vast majority of us, will not be as frenetic as it once was. We will be able to sit back a bit and savor the experience that we devoured in the past. Raid progression and PVP rank competition will exist so we can all get a taste and enjoy it. But WoW Classic is not intended to reignite the craziness that once was.
Make it authentic. Make it amazing. But the great majority of us want to just soak it in and enjoy it this round.
Closed realms will get us closer to the experience we loved. Let me level my main and alts, level professions, play the AH, PVP, quest and explore with friends and guildies.
If you need to return to cutting edge play - that's what retail is for.

I just wouldn't bother with battlegrounds. At that point, I'd opt solely for wpvp.06/18/2018 07:23 AMPosted by Sillidancant be bothered to wait in super long queues, i will quit if that happens

you develop rivalries and all that
top tier gameplay
This.
No cross realm bgs. I think reasons why have been adequately covered by other posts on this page.
Your realm needs to mean something.

The only reason I'd want cross realm bgs is queue time. When cross realm bgs existed, I still remember quite a few specific people i ran into all the time in certain brackets, so it didnt lose the community feel too much for me, but it was a relatively low pop realm and low pop battlegroup I played in.
But, if realms are decently populated and queue times are ok, and it really did make it lose the community feel as much as most people say it did for them, then I support no cross realm bgs.

NO crbgs no bgs for me and i am sure many others, and your queue times will just grow longer, not waiting in queues for hours on end, thanks.
I know its been 1 year since I made this thread but with the sharding news I wont be surprised if Cross-Realm BGs end up being a thing.
This is unfortunate.
This is unfortunate.
I would prefer not to have any crossrealm BGs or dungeons, etc.
This is both a Necro, and Blizz already stated we're getting 1.12, Cross Realm BG's and All.
i aint playing trash sharding, xrealms wow. lol, thats not wow. its garbage f that
No cross realms. If realms are dwindling in population; merge them.
looks like we are loosing the war against cross realm battlegrounds, how about a compromise?
6 month necro, but I agree. IMO CRBGâs killed the PVP community, CRZâs / Dungeon Finder killed most of the server-wide community, and LFR killed the non-hardcore PVE raiding community. WoW is a single player game now with really realistic NPC characters.
it allows dead servers to pvp im ok with it.
