Cross faction NOT for queued content?

Wait what???

I was under the impression that cross-faction is coming but apparently not for any form of queued content. Oh…

Part of me was getting excited to even maybe seeing horde chat in trade too since alliance is so dead on my cluster there’s never ANYONE talking or responding.

Welp.

Yup. Just one more thing i cant interact with in this game. Was hyped, now not anymore. Guess it is what it is.

IIrc the faction thingy was always advertised as only select groups that advertise themselves as horde and alliance. I’m not sure how one could hear about one thing and not hear about that part as well aside from skimming an article.

Development Preview: Cross-Faction Instances (worldofwarcraft.com)

All the details are here.

" Premade Groups in the Group Finder listings for Mythic dungeons, raids, or rated arena/RBGs will be open to applicants of both factions, though the group leader may choose to restrict the listing to same-faction applicants if they so choose."

I assumed from the info that all forms of dungeons, and not just Mythic, could allow xfaction posts to be put up in the Premade, but I would need someone to confirm that.

Pre-made tool for pug raids would work right?

Yep; just not the auto-built groups.

Of course it’s not. They’re not going to force the factions to play together. It’s supposed to be a choice. They can’t do that with LFR and LFD.

Baby steps. Ease people into this. LFR would be a poop show cross faction.

nope its just for the top players.

Sure they could. Just needs a checkbox to opt in/out the same way they do roles.

I mean mostly just m+ at this rate unless you count heroic raiding as hardcore. You need at least 16 people in your raid group to be in the same guild to get mythic progression credit so that scene of players is going to most likely continue to opt for the same faction for the most part. Also cross realm restrictions lol.

Got a few people too shy to communicate with strangers in this thread. :eyes:

And that’s more programming that’s going to take more time. They said they’ll continue to add more features in slow steps due to coding and getting people used to things. That’s why I said:

Yeah, lame, they didn’t go all the way.

If you’re easing people in, leaving out a big portion of the folks who would benefit is probably not a great move. The premade crowd is going to need less convincing, because they’re already comfortable just taking the best performers.

It will come eventually. They just need to add more options to the queue window to allow players to opt out of cross faction match making. It’s primarily an issue for RP’ers.

Did they actually state they needed this for RP’ers?

From your link

Guilds will remain single-faction, and random matchmade activities like Heroic dungeons, Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will all remain same-faction (both because there is less faction-driven pressure around random groups, and to avoid compromising the opt-in nature of the feature by randomly placing a queuing orc in a group with a night elf).

I would assume you can manually run into the dungeons but you can’t make a premade group and then queue for LFD because if someone leaves and gets replaced by someone who wants no parts of x-faction then there’s a problem.

I could honestly see it for LFD/LFR. LFR is a poop show anyways so it wouldn’t really hurt it. It would make the que times faster.

show your math.

because two groups with the same shortages added up make the shortage worse not better.
