Cross faction guild invite not working yet?

Hello,

I’ve tried to invite another person from the opposite faction into my guild. He’s a bnet friend. But I’m still getting the error, that I can’t invite members of the opposite faction. Am I missing something or is this bugged?

I had no problem yesterday. Are you including the realm in the character name? Like “Rufflebottom-Bloodhoof”.

I tried that now, but unfortunately it doesn’t do anything.

It’s been working for me.

Try a full UI reset? Maybe it’s old data clogging up your client.

  1. Delete the cache folder
  2. Move or rename the WTF and Interface folders. This lets you restore them afterward.

I got it to work by starting a community and inviting the cross faction character to the community and then inviting him to my guild.

Have you gotten this issue fixed yet? I would love to know.

In order to invite someone cross faction they need to be a Battle.net friend and/or a member of the same WoW Community.

It is strange that Nilann couldn’t invite if they were Bnet friends, but we’re not sure if they figured it out or not.

Are you having trouble, Doness? Have you tried the suggestions above?

I haven’t had trouble, but I was curious just in case I wanted to join an opposite faction guild later.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure out what caused the problem. I asked another officer in the guild to invite the player and it worked perfectly fine just by adding him to the Bnet friendlist.

I ran into this problem earlier today:

I could not cross-faction guild invite someone who is on my bnet friends list (long-time bnet friend, if that matters.)

We made a party and tried again, still received “you can’t invite players from the opposing faction.”

Invited character to a cross-faction community. Ginvite went through easily once they were in the community. No other changes made in between (didn’t relog, reset anything, etc.)

Interesting. I wonder if refreshing the Bnet friend by removing and adding them back would work.

I received the error “You can’t invite players from the opposing faction” yesterday. Personally I resolved it by using “character-realm” instead of just “character”, even though the Horde character was on the same realm.

I tried this…it did not work. Got the same error message

I added a new Bnet friend, still didn’t work. Had to have them in a community together.

Have you tried the steps listed in this thread?

I have 2 accounts.

I made a community. Set it up for Cross Faction.

Invited all my Horde Characters to the community.

Then invited each one using character-realm name, using guild invite.

Easy as pie.

Now on to the other realms I play on.

Well, the system wasn’t exactly designed for our alts to be invited to a 1-man guild, so I’m not sure it’ll be something that is “fixed” in any way.

Okay. I was curious if others were experiencing the same problem that’s all.

Adding the character to a community and then inviting them to the guild worked for me.
