Credit card number invalid

Since yesterday i’m getting the same error when i try to pay with my VISA credit card, when i enter the card numbers it tells me the number is invalid.
Tried making a ticket and got some chatGPT responses that did nothing, they told me to wait 24hs, i responded “ok, i’ll wait and see” and immediately got an answer saying “sorry you waited 24hs and you still have this problem, i know its frustating” lmaoo, they don’t even read what you tell them.

So, what can i do? It still wont let me pay. It’s not a problem with my bank.

Blizzard doesn’t use ChatGPT or any AI for the responses. They use templates.

Now, is the card activated? Or is the card expired? And is it an actual credit/debit card and not a prepaid credit card?

I would definitely want to make sure I am entering the information correctly in this case. That error is usually given when a CC processer like moneris can’t verify the information provided.

Blizzard does not use AI for responses. A common practice is to use templates and support articles. That’s what it sounds like happened with you. Blizz will usually steer you in the direction of support articles to help you troubleshoot your issue. In most cases you can click a link at the bottom of your ticket response stating ‘I still need help’. That will allow a human GM to look at your ticket.

It is an actual credit card, it is activated and it didn’t expire.

I bought the game for my brother a couple of days ago, at first, in the webpage it said the same message but then tried in the battle net client and it allowed me to pay. Now it wont let me neither in the webpage or the client.

The chatgpt wasn’t literal, it was a joke because of how bad their responses are, sorry for not being clear.

Definitely try a different device, browser or network. VPNs have been known to cause issues as well.

I have already tried that, they redirected me to their article about this issue at first. As i have already said, i went over this issue on my end in the ticket.

Tried with a VPN, without, tried with Opera, Brave, Chrome all with clean history browser and cache, tried with my phone, my brother tried himself from a different location with a different computer.

Ive read other posts from months ago, with people from blizzard admitting is a problem on their middle man handling the payment methods with VISA.

So i guess i won’t be allowed to buy it until they solve it.

Just for the sake of being clear - what ya read months ago wouldn’t be the same issue now. Things may seem the same on the surface, but there can easily be different causes behind them.

Alright, it still doesn’t solve my issue and i still don’t get other response than “just wait another 24hs our system will work at some point we promise :)”

Mainly because that is unfortunately the only answer they can give. I have worked a job where the credit card processor (the middle man) wasn’t working right. The level of support that would be customer facing really can’t do anything about it, it requires the company (Blizzard in this case) to communicate with the support of the processor, which unfortunately means Blizzard is at the mercy of that processor’s support. They can’t really do much until the processor fixes the issue.

Right now all Blizzard Support can probably tell you is to wait because the issue has to be resolved at a level that is way above their pay grade. Trust me this is more frustrating and important for Blizzard, as they can’t get paid if the processor isn’t able to process payments.

Yep! that’s why i’m making a post in the forum, since in the tickets they don’t seem to read my responses at all, or at least tell me they are communicating the issue to someone that can communicate with the middle man or something. Seemed like the only way to get a human response from Blizzard (just like it happened a few months ago when someone had the same issue).
I also work a job where we deal with credit card processors, i’m a backend dev.

The blues here have no power in regards to payment issues. Not sure what to expect from posting here more then ‘there’s an issue’.

Have you tried using the add payment method? Not while trying to purchase something? PayPal?

Oh well, i was expecting they had some form of way to elevate issues. My bad then. Altho thats really poor.

The only way to have an issue escalated is through a GM if there is a blizz team to send it to.

Yep, i have tried in my account configuration and it tells me the same issue. Paypal payment works fine. I’m lazy to connect my VISA (which i wanna use to pay) to Paypal and it would be nice if the underlying issue is solved.

I just tried to add a payment method and had the same issue, this seams to be a moneris issue, not so much blizz.

The latest attempts I’m seeing were from 6/18, Izigabi - both are paypal. The first failed (not certain why) the last for balance looks like it succeeded.

What did they say when you contacted them after this payment didn’t work? While it might have worked for your brother, often times when multiple payments happen for online gaming, banks will block them in the event of fraud.

Hmmm…never heard of them having trouble specifically with Visa nor have I ever heard of them using a “middle man” to handle payments. Unless you just mean the interaction between Blizzard and your bank?

In any event, it definitely sounds like your payment is being blocked in some way.

Orlyia just posted too though. Something didn’t go through while a purchase for battle.net balance did.

Hi Orlyia, i guess it doesn’t show because when i’m pressing the button to pay it immediately tells me the credit card number is invalid. Do you wish for a screenshot with my credit card information censored?

Edit: wanted to add too that in some browsers like Brave sometimes it didn’t even let me press the button because as soon as i entered the credit cards number it was telling me it was invalid, i guess theres multiple payment forms.

That isn’t something that would do me any good, Izigabi.

You could attach it to a ticket, but I’m not sure it would do a GM much good either.

I don’t disbelieve you, I just don’t know why you are getting that message.
