Crazy amounts of flickering?

Anyone getting crazy visual flickering since prepatch?? Certain items, mounts like Zulian tiger do it, it’s really bad in Silithus with the crystals if you’re looking down from Cen Hold at just the right angle.

Sometimes I can see the entire square of lighting that emanates from certain items, like wands or glowing offhands.

It makes the game look even cheaper than it is

Yep. I’ve noticed weird light boxes. Also, sometimes I’ll get a bright red flickering on distant clutter objects like grasses or shrubs. It’s tricked me into thinking there was the opposing faction nearby more than once. All started with the prepatch.

Yep. Some flickering and stuttering, especially in flight. Some weird glow or something . . . the game seems washed out if that makes sense.

Gonna drop this in every thread where I see this being discussed. I’m not sure if this is the same issue but I did notice the Burning Crusade Classic client having DirectX12 features whereas the old Classic Era client didn’t (pretty sure). Blizzard adding some of the Retail client features may have inadvertently ported over this issue that’s been a thing since Nvidia v460xx drivers were released in December. If you look at Nvidia’s most recent driver release notes, it’s still a known issue:

i had this problem in retail at one point. what i remember doing to fix it is going into the the advanced system settings and going to directX 11 instead of 12, and that fixed it for me.

I have a feeling there’s a lot of finger-pointing going on over this behind the scenes. It’s unusual for a bug like this to remain unfixed for this long when it comes to a game as popular as World of Warcraft.

Thats because they’re using the broken Shadowlands base for it. Shadowlands introduced the rave flicker and Activision can’t give a crap over fixing it

Hard to argue with that. I think the probability is high that the issue is on the game development end rather than the driver engineers. I’ve played several games using the v460.xx series drivers. World of Warcraft is the only game to have the flickering issues so far.
