Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

If I’m being honest I have plenty of other gaming options right now. I’m just irritated I wasted a subscription fee on a broken product. :-1:

Where were you in game when the crash happened?

Temple of sethraliss; half way between boss 1 and boss 2

What were you doing when the crash happened?

healing my team & moving towards next mob

What error message did you get (if any)?:

experienced two short freezes before boss 1
experienced longer freeze leading to crash halfway between boss 1 and boss 2

What character/class you were playing when it happened?:

I was playing a holy priest;
The other characters in my group were 2 dps demon hunters, a hunter and a bear tank

Was there any other notable behavior before the lockup occurred or anything you want to add?:

regular size mob pull about 4-6 creatures, druid had just casted stampeding roar

Same issues as most of the other folks here. The game was constantly crashing finder and rebooting my computer on week 1. Last week, I followed all the support pages suggestions to no avail. I ended up reinstalling the game, then changed all the graphics to the lowest settings and lowered the FPS. It still gave me the beach ball spinner every once in a while, though it hadn’t crashed my computer in about a week, until today. The game also had to be force quit 3 times today (audio continued, but graphics were frozen)

MBP 2015
Mac OS 10.15.2
Processor: 2.7 Ghz Dual Core Intel Core i5
16GB RAM
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

If they don’t fix this by the time my 6-month sub ends next month, I’m canceling. Not having this game ruin my computer forever.

I’m having the same issue and its bulls### because we pay to play this I am having the same problem are all of you with our MacBooks and because of this issues that haven’t been fixed I can’t join a raid or do a mythic+ without the fear of my pc freezing up on me. I’m the main tank of my guild and this has hurt us with are raid progression and again we are paying for this are we getting Reimbursement from the days that this has started and again it’s their F### up, not ours? because it been what over 3 weeks now this is getting Ridiculous.

Just crashed on 2 final bosses in a row. Game mostly freezes then I have to exit for it to start working again, and occasionally it’d spread to the computer and I’d have to restart.

OS Mojave 10.4
Macbook pro 13 inch retina

Edit: Most of the lag happens when I’m in a dungeon/battleground. Also occasionally outside them.

I think the game got little better! thank you Blizzard for keeping working on the solution!

Gotta take my words back :frowning: still experiencing bad freezing and crushes in instances…

Still Crashing. Tried the random raid finder for the newest dungeon. Crashed on the first two mobs. I suspect it was when heroism was being cast. Tried World Questing, all fine till I joined a pug raid for an epic Quest and crashed within the first 15 sec of the boss encounter. Basically all Mac users can do for the time being is levelling and questing it seems. This is on 60++% reso settings.

Im using a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 decked out to its fullest potential, furthermore I did a full clean and reinstalled my OS 2-3days ago. feeling terribly bad for the rest of us. peace.

There was a large Mac Os update this morning for me.
I actually got on after the update and killed a few bosses in groups, and did a few scenarios. I tried to find the most obvious places to make the freeze happen.
So far I haven’t frozen. Will test it more thoroughly later.
I have hopes that Apple fixed what blizzard would not.
Will go into a vision - and try a M+ later.
I have had 0 success with that in the past.

I’m not sure how good is wine support on Mac, but on Linux dxvk works perfectly so you guys could try that.

Note that wine’s builtin d3d12 freezes so gotta use dxvk/d3d11.

it will still happen, I had the update last night. It makes it seem better but it will start to happen again.

Good luck all, selling my Mac tonight and just bought new windows gaming laptop

Honestly my biggest fear coming out of all of this is that they’re going to turn around and say that wow is no longer playable on a Mac and the only solution is to buy a pc.

This seems to be an issue limited to MacBook Pros and iMacs. On my 2015 MB Pro 13’’, the game is now completely unplayable. On my 2012 Mac Pro 6 core Xeon, with a RX 580 8GB graphics card, I can play the game at max settings with 100 fps with no issues.
Hope it gets fixed soon, since there are a lot of people that can only play on their laptops.

Ok - thanks for letting me know.

This will affect all MacBook Airs as well, as none of those use discrete GPUs. They all use Intel IGPs. Not that I’d recommend trying to use an MBA, but there ya go.

Seems a bit extreme to reorganize your computing around a video game. But you do you.

One strange thing:

My partner uses a macbook air, but plays the game off of an external hard drive.

They’ve NEVER experienced this issue since the patch dropped.

Odds are they aren’t on the affected OSes (potentially Mojave and definitely Catalina).
