Ah, gotcha. They’re on 10.13.6, which is high sierra.
Where does blizzard confirm that the OS version is related to the crashes?
Maybe people can just roll back to an earlier OS version until the bug is resolved.

I have an external SSD right next to me. I’ll copy the game over to it and see what happens. I’ll get back in about 30 minutes with the results.
Tiapriestess might be right above when saying that its because she’s running an old OS version. She is running 10.13, which is two behind.
Still seems a bit odd that anything above 10.13 would break the game. Of course, anything is possible. Seems like someone would have tested this for at least Mojave at some point during Beta.
Yeah. Let me know if the ssd works. If not maybe try installing an older OS version? I’m at work, so i cant do it myself.
Many can’t, since their machines came with Mojave or Catalina, meaning the OS that shipped with the machine is the earliest they could roll back to. That’s another reason why Blizzard is trying so hard to get this squashed. There are a decent number of people that literally can’t avoid the bug if they try to play the game.
It has to do with the Intel drivers. Blizzard had previously worked around most of the bugs in the Intel drivers for all of its supported OSes, but whatever change triggered the problem we’re seeing here appears to be limited to the Mojave and Catalina Intel drivers, which have differences from those in High Sierra or Sierra.
It’s possible to go back to an earlier version, even if your Mac shipped with Mojave or Catalina. It’s just a bit of a pain in the butt. And really, who wants to roll back that far on their OS?
This is not true if the machine has either a CPU that wasn’t supported in the previous OS’ kernel or other internal hardware that was not supported. Without kernel support, the machine hangs or KPs on boot, usually the latter.
Ok, so this is interesting. I loaded the game on an external SSD, and fired it up. I replicated all the things that were making the game lock on me before. Mob pulling, casting certain spells, and getting close to other players. Annnnd, no locking up. Not at all. Turned up my settings a bit, and still playing with no lock ups. Perhaps this will give the peeps at Blizz on narrowing down where to search out a solution to the issue.
Run an lfr or battleground and get back to us
8.2 was working fine on 10.15.2 the day before 8.3 … so pointing at OS versions is kinda a waste of time.
It’s possible that rolling back your OS could fix things, but it’s definitely something Blizzard changed in 8.3 regardless.
Ran a BG, and was working fine. Made sure to get into a crowd, since that has been one of the problem areas. Once again, was working great. Then after a few minutes, locked up, no warning. And one that I had to reboot the computer to get out of.
I’m sensing a bad trend
8.3 released with a game breaking issue they were fully aware of
Bliz released Warcraft 3 reforged in a state world’s different than advertised
I think we should, at this point, just admit it’s no longer activision/blizzard and just activision? I’m at this point just not going to give activision any money, they ruin games and this series is over at this point
Well it’s also for work reasons too, was never to big of a fan of macs
Understandable
I don’t think OS version is necessarily the deciding factor. There are two MacBooks in my household: my Pro and my spouse’s Air. Both run Catalina and have integrated Intel GPUs, but only the MacBook Pro has problems.
Still broken… Cancelling sub now…
Yeah its insane they won’t even refund us time or something while they figure it out. I understand these issues can be complicated but we literally cannot play wow lol
Seems like it has gotten “better” in the sense that it doesn’t freeze as much as prior than from this weeks maintenance. We do deserve compensation for the loss time of not being able to play a game that is Mac compatible. I have been keeping up with this thread for more updates. But it seems like there are only more complaints. Blizzard needs to step up to the plate and do something big to fix this problem. Or send us Mac Users windows 10 and a ssd so we can Boot Camp.
I’ve been trying to tough it through and just play, my crashes have been manageable, I’ll just log back in but this time my game froze indefinitely and I was forced to reboot my Mac. Doing so I got removed from my group and obtained a dungeon deserter debuff, like are you kidding me? This is getting out of hand. Absolutely irritating.
