OSX version 10.15.3 released today, can anyone confirm if this update has fixed/improved the issue? I’m getting mixed reports, although it would be preferable if I didn’t have to upgrade to Catalina
The Mac update today did not fix the issue, as I am still freezing out in the world doing World Quests. Example: when other players joined in an Azerite Empowerment fight. I was going to try a dungeon, but that experience discouraged me.
I asked for a refund of my game time/token and to cancel my subscription and this was the response. Beyond frustrating…
However, we can’t refund tokens or game time that has already been used. We can only refund or reimburse a subscription if the majority of game time hasn’t been played.
In this case, I would suggest not playing and we can reimburse the game time that hasn’t been used.
While it may be frustrating that Mac issues aren’t a higher priority, please understand that the Bug team prioritizes issues that are affecting the largest amount of players. These issues will eventually be fixed but in the mean time, we ask that you please be patient.
So I thought it was fixed - its a lot better for me - but im still getting infrequent crashes, and I just tried Wrathion for the first time, and the came crashed twice, then I died and got kicked. Nice.
I recently experienced this issue after 8.3 patch. Working in customer service and knowing all the computer benefactors such as hardware/coding/ and other intricacies that come into play can be quite challenging to successfully troubleshoot. Especially when it comes to a different OS. I won’t be able to play until it’s patched. Hopefully there’s an update soon or at least we can be notified.
I’m going to pop in with some specifics on my issues.
Where: I’ve been all over the place where this has happened, but most frequently in islands, dungeons, raids, or questing areas. Not usually when I’m standing around.
When: Any kind of encounter starts. I thought at first it was from too many particle effects or something, but even fighting one enemy makes it crash sometimes. The opposite happens too: sometimes fighting hordes of enemies or enemies with lots of effects is fine.
No error message. Just the mysterious “your Mac was shut off” or whatever.
I’ve played 4 classes where this has happened (priest, rogue, hunter, paladin) but that’s more because I just don’t play on many characters.
To add: I’ve noticed that since the hotfix a week ago, there have been more instances where wow won’t completely crash my computer, but will freeze on its own. I.e.: I can quit out of the game without restarting my computer.
… they lucky it wasn’t me sending that ticket and receiving that response… bc best believe you finna get cursed out if you hit me with that
2016 Macbook pro user here who also can’t play the game due to crashes and freezing. Contacted blizzard myself this week to see if I could get a refund for the three months of game time that was purchased at the beginning of this patch and they declined even after I appealed.
I started playing WoW in vanilla, but it’s absurd to think that as a company they’re not willing to give refunds for a broken game (and of my game time that I have barely touched).
I’m stepping away from WoW forever, and I don’t plan on paying money for any Activision/Blizzard games ever because I’m so angry. Not at the Devs; we know you all are working your butts off. But the company clearly isn’t giving you the resources you need, and is charging us way too much for a literally unplayable game.
I just went on all my toons and announced I was quitting (well at least for now, but I don’t really think I want to come back to a game that has been going downhill… this issue was a big red flag, maybe if I ever decide to get a windows computer or a egpu just in case this same issue happens again which it most likely will?)
I used my 30 days of game time I received as a birthday gift thinking I would be able to play the game too ( COULD’VE saved it)
I’m done with this game, worst game experience I HAVE ever had, I’ve been playing this game for years, and I guess within the break I took which was like a 2 year break, they really changed stuff up… for the WORSE. Most games have stuff fixed up RIGHT AWAY, but guess if you are a “mactard” you are put last on the to do list.
I’d rather play Roblox then this game at this point.
WoW the beta 8.3/ The 8.3 Mackiller
Just know if it has activision involved in it…
AVOID at all costs.
Yeah, I feel you. I resubbed a week ago not knowing this was an issue. Luckily for me I only resubbed for a month. I contacted blizzard too and asked for a refund or a free month of wow and they also declined. Blizzard customer server is a big joke.
I’m disappointed. It’s a completely unplayable waste of money which won’t be refunded. Blizzard really expects people to continue to pay on the hopes that the bug will be, as they said, fixed “eventually”. I’m not paying on the hopes of “eventually”. The lack of communication and accommodation is what is the biggest downer. Oh well. Subscription cancelled.
I shut down my computer, and there was a error at shut down causing a restart, then shut it back down and turned it on, and suddenly my game works again. Might not be a WoW error.
Best believe they will be receiving a phone CALL back ticket and will be def hearing from my mouth if they try to play that with me with the ticket I already submitted.
DISAPPOINTING isn’t even the word. More like disgusted with this company and how they are handling their CUSTOMERS (the people that are giving them the money) Yes we are understanding because at the end of the day this is a game, nothing is perfect, but this is tooooo big of an issue to just be acting nonchalant about it… no eta and its about to be feb? Sounds like it’s going to take a few months to fix… yes because I want to wait until most of the players on the game are 460-470, having to gear up my 440 toon and MOST LIKELY struggling to get into even normal raids because ppl are arses and love picking people with item levels that are higher then the gear that the raid drops. Yes because I love losing my raid spot in my guild, and YESSS I love having to catch up because a company can’t fix their game that was paid for. No compensation, no anything… just a “idk when it’s gonna be done but y’all just going to have to wait so oh well” basically.
Since nothing getting done for crash , i guess it time for a quit the game not playable since patch
With a stream open it is playable been able to raid and do other group content tonight, instead of crashing i have been experiencing bad stuttering at points or small freezes for 4-5 seconds…
What do you mean, with a stream open?
Can no longer play after it consistently degraded over the past few weeks. A previous work around was to quit and restart (game and computer) and occasionally you would get about 15 -30 mins mins.
Since the update last night there is no restart workaround (may have nothing to do with the latest maintenance) .
The problem also occurs in older areas of the game, Stormwind etc but not as frequently as Uldam .
No error codes, just a freeze. Prior to total freeze out I noticed the problem was more prevalent when on a flying mount but turn the view around to the way you came and it sometimes resolved OK (but unfortunately that is not the way I want to go).

i lied, it does still freeze/crash but it seems overall better!
It’s luck. Nothing has changed. For me and two others, it has been significantly worse tonight.
