Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

I’m running a 760 with no issues running Anthem and Fallen order on Ultra. Haven’t changed it for 3 years.

Either way…didn’t come in here for this. My apologies for the distraction from your “We hate Blizzard” party.

Still having similar issues with only this game. WoW is causing my GPU to reset every few minutes since 8.3. Black screen, computer freezes up, comes back after several seconds.

Nothing will be solved until everyone unsubscribes and hits them where it hurts.

Or, like myself, has very good web browsing habits. I’ve had both Macs and PCs in my house for the last twenty years without a single virus that wasn’t put there by me on purpose (and only after all other drives and devices were unplugged with a clone to restore from afterward, done only for troubleshooting purposes to help someone else).

Macs are no less susceptible to virii than PCs running Windows. There are just fewer of them due to the nature of having a much smaller market base (read: potential targets). Ransomware and virii do exist for OS X and if you have poor browsing habits, you can easily become infected. And because it’s so prevalent to think that Macs/OS X are immune to infection, few people even know about the virii and malware that exist that can target OS X. Problem is, when they’re hit, they’re hit hard because they’re uneducated about such things.

As a hackintosh user, I know both sides of that coin very well and am prepared for it should it happen to me for some reason. The only thing I wasn’t prepared for in all these years was the Google update agent replacing /private/var with a different symlink without the user’s knowledge or consent, resulting in an immediately unbootable OS. Thankfully I know recovery procedures for OS X quite well and was able to get back up in just a few hours. But no anti-virus program would have stopped that as Chrome’s update agents are whitelisted, as they are generally “known good”.

As for the comment about how often one switches out GPUs, one need only look to how people have to deal with graphics switching in OS X on laptops or the same when having to buy and use an eGPU to overcome the Macs’ inherent lack of graphics performance. You won’t win this argument on that front I’m afraid.

Right? Imagine getting bootcamp and buying Windows 10 to be able to play a twenty year old game lmao - utter nonsense.

it’s comical that I’ve been playing Total Warhammer 2 on high graphics with no lag, yet can’t play WoW on the lowest graphics even after two weeks of Blizzard having known this rampant bug.

Everyone unsubscribe and move on, no fix is coming anytime soon. Best we can hope for is compensation in the form of free subscription some months down the track.

I have been having this issue as well, but I do not have a mac. I am running a Dell Inspiron 15 7559. My game is nearly unplayable with these exact issues.

Of course there is further action that needs to be taken, this game has been unplayable since 8.3, your Mac users are literally telling you this! Its about to be 2 weeks since this problem has begun and no fix yet, you can’t expect players to want to keep paying for subscription to a game that they can’t even play, not even some type of compensation for the trouble everyone else is going through.

I have the same problem here and submitted a ticket to blizzard and they just send me to here and resolved the ticket a few minutes ago, I hope this can be resolved ASAP .

So first off we were talking about “reliability“. I’ve had my Mac for 6 years now without having to change any components.

You said “having to buy an eGPU”, you do not have to buy an eGPU if you are content with the graphics.

Finally you stated that “Macs are no less susceptible… There are just fewer of them due to the nature of having a much smaller market place”. Saying that there are fewer viruses to gain on a Mac compared to a PC implies that macs are more reliable as much less defensive actions are required to protect the product.

This is where you’re mistaken. You still need a good AV and Malwarebytes is still useful. I suggest something like ClamXAV for your anti-virus app. You still don’t get it - there may be fewer total numbers of virii targeting OS X, but the ones that do are quite destructive and can be difficult to get rid of once you’ve been infected. And OS X is still subject to malware, malvertising, and ransomware. And the first two can still deliver the latter.

Security by obscurity is a myth that’s been debunked for many years now. It’s time you learned that before your hubris does you in.

Blizzard is basically giving every Mac user the middle finger.

The main issue I’ve notice since 8.3’s release is memory loss. I use a tool called Clean My Mac. At any time, I can click the tool’s icon and see stats related to my battery, memory, cpu, etc. When 8.3 released, I noticed everything was sluggish with stuttering and freezing. The tool showed me that all my memory was gone… an issue that didn’t occur prior to 8.3. The tool allows me to “free up space” and if I do that, it gives me back the memory and I’m able to keep playing but I am finding myself reclaiming memory every couple minutes, which isn’t viable if you’re mid-boss fight when you need to use the tool. Anyway, just wanted to share in case it helps. I hope Blizzard fixes this issue soon.

Mac Killer 8.3 …

Sorry account was suspended after posting that video. Buuuut what I meant is unlike with Windows I have never experienced lag or slow down with a MacBook. It’s generally reliable in raids because of that.

same… tried raiding with windows, lag was terrible, slow loading screens, only good thing were the graphics lol

So bliz will you respond Monday? Because it seems like you are willing to suspend people actually posting on social media about what the issue are… kinda messed up in my opinion

Same as everyone here for the same amount of time. I’ve been stalking the forums, but IF we get compensation, I don’t want to be left out because I never posted/reported. =)
