First, that was for a Mac Pro (w/ AMD Pro Vega II 32GB dGPU). Not the intel issue that is being reported here. Mac Pro’s don’t have any type of iGPU’s, especially intel ones. They have true 16x PCIe video cards, that you can install yourself, and upgrade overtime. You can purchase them directly from Apple (MPX) cards, and/or install your own aftermarket ones. Again, no intel (iGPU) in a Mac Pro.
Second, the issue that I was seeing, might have been fixed in 8.3, as I haven’t so far (knock on wood) had that issue since, but I am still tracking it.
Third, that had NOTHING todo with the PTR, that was LIVE 8.2.5.
This makes sense, as it is released to AMD (dGPU’s) NOT Intel (iGPU’s)… They are NOT the same bug, drivers, and/or hardware.
AMD = Dedicated GPU (dGPU) . The 15"/16" MacBook Pros have both an intel iGPU & AMD dGPU, the intel is used when you want to save on battery, the AMD is used when you want performance like playing a game. The Mac Pro is dGPU only, as it has a true PCIe Desktop class video card. Plus the iMac Pro, and most 4K/5K Retina iMac’s also have dGPU. All other Macs come with various different Intel iGPU’s, and they are the ones having this issue.
Specifically the AMD drivers for the new Mac Pro (AMD Pro Vega II), and 16" MacBook Pro (AMD 5300M/5500M), are very immature as the hardware is very new. I would assume that 10.15.3, and beyond will improve the performance/stability for that hardware.
But AGAIN, this has nothing to do with this Intel iGPU bug.
a link to the PTR forums showing that the intel based macs are having issue would be great if you can find one… So far, no one can post one, just random issues, bugs that are typical for any testing, and/or AMD related issues.
Otherwise bugs are bugs, that is one reason they test the game. It is so they can TRY to find all the bugs they can and fix them as best as possible before rolling it out to the masses. The issue with the PTR is that it has way fewer people playing and testing than live, and that means that they have WAY less people seeing issues in general. Something small that they might see on the PTR could be viewed as a minor issue, but it could end up being bigger because now more machines are having the problem than they saw on the PTR.
Again as a few others have posted. Blizzard isn’t just sitting and ignoring this issue, the longer they ignore it the more reports and/or complaints they are going to keep getting, I am pretty confident that they want it resolved as quickly as possible. It seems like they rolled out a potential fix, and that fix made things worse, so they rolled it back.
As with ALL software/game development, no matter the company. You need to find the bug, try to fix the bug, test that the fix actually works, then test it on various hardware and software configurations. Then they have to make a decision, do they keep testing and really make sure it is fixed, or roll it out because everyone is demanding a fix and gamble if what they did actually worked. Sadly when you rush, sometimes you also make things worse.
logged in, froze immediately and not some program called “blizzard error” gave me thisv39A2F789-582A-40B5-B73C-3AFAF6A47290 which I have never seen before
I can’t play either. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and can’t play but a few minutes and the game freezes and eventually my computer shuts down. It’s extremely aggravating to have pre purchased Shadowlands and not be able to get into content.
Decided to take video of the freezing. Again to reiterate a few things
https://youtu.be/gYgV402EKsg
1.) never had issues at all prior to 8.3
2.) yes screen is dirty, when you have a walking handicap you tend to get up less to take care of small stuff
3.) there are multiple parts, was going to upload them on imgur but they were all too long. I shut down the computer eventually once the point was proven
I have the exact same issue - my Mac Book Pro macOS Mojave, 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5, 8GB memory, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 started to freeze randomly after the patch. Usually I have to kill the game and rarely, force shutdown my laptop because it will stop responding. This didn’t happen before the patch.
Please fix asap. Thx
Note: I’ve played with system>graphic settings and set them at lowest values and lowest resolution, but issue still occurs (I anyway play at the lowest settings and a bit higher resolution)
Just wanted to confirm that the eGPU setup does fix the issue although I understand this is certainly not an option for many. Was crashing nonstop before and now no issues at all.

Symptom: If you get to a congested area, especially in the new content it will freeze until a crash or force a reboot. It isn’t the computer, what else is running or affected by anything I can reduce in game, such as the quality of graphics. It is so horrible I’ve spent most of my time attempting to play and then coming out in the graveyard. Go back to body, too many toons get near me and I freeze again.
[/quote]3 seems to be the max amount of characters and toons I can be near.
iirc the last update was the one where they were looking to see if any additional steps needed to be taken on their side lmao. So… with the communication they’ve given us they could be satisfied with the state of the game.
Others are saying otherwise, but seriously my issue here is with the extremely unprofessional communication. Just tell me you’re working on it, have a guy take 30 seconds out of his day to respond to the forum thread with 1.2k comments saying “Thank you for your patience, we know how frustrating this is, our team is actively working on a fix and it’s our top priority”.
