Hi. Im at Muradin server and i have the same problem, i went Magni camp and i get so laggy i cant hardly move. if i move further the camp, i start moving and the freze stops. Is not a computer or graphics problem.
Exactly. There were no issues pre-patch.
Macbook Pro w/Catalina here, too. Computer is completely up to date and I’ve had no issues until the patch. The game is near unplayable right now - I’m not even into the new content. Blizz, please address this.
Agreed, issue is still present and we are approaching a week.
Very easy to reproduce.
Jump on a toon, head to Exarchs Reach in Dreanor and head into the demons. Within a minute the freezing will start, keep playing and it will crash the machine.
This is totally unacceptable.
I think at the very a least a game credit is now in order.
'17 MBP / Mac OS Catalina 10.15.2
2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB
I’m having all of the same issues the others are describing. Immediately following the patch, I started having freezes (with sporadic sounds). I am not into the new content yet. This happens every time I am around a decent amount of players, a chaotic environment (I cannot do any instances). Upon entering Pandaria this afternoon, the freezes were happening about once every 30 seconds and crashed my computer entirely, two times. I have all of my settings bottomed out as well. I have a screenshot of the Apple error (that I did send on to Apple). The first line is as follows:
Panic ( cpu 0 caller 0xffffff7f92733a76) : “Graphics firmware encountered an exception (eip: 0xf179, fault #: 0xdj\n”@skl/sched3/IGGuC.cpp : 864
There is a lot more, but looks similar to a few others posted here.
Macbook Air with Catalina
1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
Exact same issue as everyone else. Computer is up to date and the game worked perfectly fine before the most recent patch, but ever since I updated I’ve been dealing with freezes both with big mob pulls and even smaller scenarios just running around, and it isn’t limited to Vale or Uldum, it can be anywhere in the game. The spinning wheel of death crops up before the game crashes and forces my computer to restart. It has happened probably 20-30 times since I downloaded the most recent patch - this has made the game completely unplayable. If there isn’t a fix sooner rather than later then why would I bother staying subscribed to Shadowlands? Blizz needs to fix this for their Mac users as soon as possible.
This is Activision we’re talking about. Refunds and game credits are very unlikely.
Mac OS Version: 10.15.2
Model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt Ports)
Proc / Mem: 2.7GHz Quad-Core i7 / 16 GB
Same as everyone else is mentioning, spinning color wheel for about 5-10 seconds, most of the time recovers. This time however the crash caused a system reboot. As multiple people have said previously, this never used to be a problem until latest patch. Crash report below:

I just got a nice new macbook pro and the game was playing beautifully. Until 8.3, now I freeze up in every bg and the game crashes my mac - shutting it down.
This is the machine I’ll be playing on for at least the next three years. That assumes this problem gets fixed - won’t be much point in updating or even subscribing to a game which is not designed to be played with the machine I’m on.
I understand their point of view - after all they’re not running a charity - though neither am I. I don’t expect anything for free and neither should they. Right now, my monthly fee is a charity…
sounds like we all need to band together and possibly seek out legal advice. That is not going to work. They cannot think that charging any of us for a service we cannot use is legal, ethical, or acceptable
The sad reality is all of us are angry and frustrated because we love this game so much. Activision/Blizzard knows this, which is why they don’t fear players threatening to unsubscribe and never return. Some players may follow through on that, but most won’t. Which is why the company won’t lift a finger to help and definitely don’t care about our subscription being wasted.
Check out the Federal Trade Commission’s website, they have consumer protection information.
It looks like if they don’t decide to refund our game time there are steps all of us can take. It would be best for everyone to be on board with this as the more people we have holding them accountable the better.
That is absolutely correct. Another sad truth is that most of the devs & QA’s do not control their policies on how they treat subscribers. As frustrating as all this is Blizz’s policy on fixing it will not be up to them. I know we all love this game and it’s hard to put it down sometimes. I get that, but at some point if gamers in general do not stand up to these companies we are all going to be worse off for it.
Just adding my info here as well:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) with Mojave 10.14.6
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB
Before this patch, I’ve had zero issues with the game (besides the usual long loading screens, particularly in new Dalaran). Now I have the same issue as everyone else, though on the milder side. About once a day, the computer freezes so badly I have to do a manual shutdown. A couple times an hour the games freezes for a good 20-30 seconds. Usually when there’s a lot of players or NPCs around. I haven’t touched instanced group content because of this bug, except for a warfront which had a number of freezes.
I’ll be really disappointed if it’s not fixed by Tuesday.
macOS version: Catalina 10.15.1
System model: MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2016
Symptom: Usually when fighting mobs, most commonly in Uldum and Horrific Visions, computer completely freezes (not just game client). Rainbow ball loading cursor for about 10-15 seconds. Occasionally does not unfreeze and have to hard restart the computer, or the computer will restart because of a problem. Computer had no issues prior to 8.3.
The sickening part is that I just bought a 3 month sub and shadowlands, but never again… what a joke this is, guess it’s really time to move on thanks blizzard. Guess what you guys really only cared about the $$$, once thats in the bag yall forgot about the players.
Windowed mode vs fullscreen makes no difference for my crashing.
WARNING for pet battlers, the final boss of the new BRD pet battle will freeze your computer every time he uses his rocket ability. So may want to steer clear or hope it’s just a freeze and not full crash. This happens whether windowed or not also. And all my settings are bottomed. No other apps open including mail.
Freezing/crashing continues and by Tuesday most of us in this “forum” will be behind in cloak progression. I was entirely unable to do any progression until late Thursday’s reset/update… And what was the weekly quest?! Oh yes. Mythic dungeons. I cannot even queue for a heroic dungeon to check things out without a 30 sec spinning rainbow ball of death (WoW not responding…) so forget about doing keys. And now Twitch isn’t working because CS told me to uninstall/reinstall (which doesn’t seem to work right, as I get back into my reinstalled game and have 1/2 the add-ons there still?). Have to manually install any add-ons because Twitch cannot find the game now. What a cluster******. Dread logging on at this point. Only 4 more healer UI’s to rebuild, but won’t do it because I don’t trust Blizz at this point… Why waste the time. Isn’t the point of gaming to relax and have fun?! I want my weekly quest rewards for my alts and the full 6 levels of upgrade on my cloak. I put the time in, but it wasted by this mess. It would have helped if we were simply told, “our bad, there is a problem and we will fix it ASAP” instead of being told it’s our problem, try blah blah and blah. Like the old uninstall/reinstall BS. Ticket closed.
Same issues, 2019 13"MBP w/ Touch Bar getting colour wheel of death. Can barely solo quest. Hopefully the maintenance this tuesday is the fix to this
