“Hey I know the game is unplayable for you Mac users, but you’re a minority of our player base. We’ll get to it this month, I think. Meanwhile, someone’s mail is late, CODE RED CODE RED”

Still freezing and worse than last week. Last night was the first time I had to manually restart my computer to fix it, and I lost out on the Uldum vision daily because of it. It seemed like it was getting better before the update yesterday. I would deal with 3 short freezes within a coupld hours. Last night, I had 5 freezes within 2 hours. And that was just during World Quests and dailies. I didn’t even bother attempting a vision last night.

It also only seems to be in current content for some reason. I played my level 81 druid in Northrend for a couple hours this morning, and everything was fine. A few minutes after logging into my main in Uldum (again in the daily vision) it freezes.

For many of you posting here, please post your hardware specs when you post.

I have tried every resolution and scale it still causes issues.
It was set on 3 with no issues before 8.3, now its on 1 and nothing but trouble.

I got this from a ticket and felt it should be shared and at least post here from Blizzard.

Hey there,

This is Specialist Game Master Vorria. I’ve received your ticket about the issues taking place with Mac computers. I do apologize this has caused issues with you being able to play the game as I know you’d prefer to be enjoying it.

Right now the issue itself is being looked into by our developers but no time frame is available as to when a fix is going to happen. In terms of game time or compensation, this is not something we provide while the problem itself is still ongoing.

Once the problem itself is fully resolved, our developers will determine the best resolution to provide but that will need to wait until the overall issue is sorted out.

I know it’s disappointing that we don’t have an immediate solution available but that won’t always be possible.

We do appreciate your continued patience with this.

Thought it was fixed today when I quested in Uldum and didn’t freeze up at all. I’m only rank 4 on my cloak as I failed a lot during the first week due to the freezing (and this was back when I thought it was just my computer). So finally got enough visions to do my second attempt this week, get to right before the boss, computer freezes needing a hard restart. I filed a ticket to have my vessel returned because this is just unfair at this point. Falling way behind and it’ll take weeks for us Mac users to catch back up.

Specs:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Ram: 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB

Playing at lowest graphics setting which does not improve the situation at all. Before 8.3 I could play at medium to high graphics setting and run about 30-40 Fps.

This needs to be higher priority blizzard. I’d much rather worry about waiting for my in-game mail than worrying if I’m going to even be able to play this game anymore.

Came back to check posts/whatnot… was the last blue post like four days ago? :frowning:
Still not trying any of the new content… and doing any sort of group ups at this point seems brutal (crashed 2-3 times in island mythics).

I just want a working game. :frowning:

This entire expansion has been a burning dumpster fire. This game breaking Mac bug is just the icing on a really horrible cake. I certainly hope Shadowlands is top quality, because they really wet the bed with this expansion.

Actually yesterday they came forward and said they still had not confirmed if any further actions were required!

Same issue here…having the same symptoms as everyone else. Unable to do any of the new content and lost track of the numbers times I died just trying to do world quests. Forget about Visions and Raiding. Disappointed that the ‘fix’ pushed last night did in fact make things worse. I can’t entirely blame Blizzard though, there’s a reason we don’t have Overwatch on our Macs. Blame must be put on Apple as well. DirectX on the same hardware with Bootcamp works flawlessly. It’s obviously an issue with Metal. Unfortunately this whole thing doesn’t give me much confidence in the future of Blizzard fully supporting the Mac for WoW. I’m curious if Mac support will be dropped by the time Shadowlands goes live.

I think this problem comes with users who specifically have Intel Iris graphics. I have the same issue, game is unplayable. I wish they at least let us know they are aware of this issue.

I dont have a mac, but i do have an older computer, way older then 2016, and its been doing this since the patch as well. ive kept everything updated with my windows, and drivers, but it still seems to be doing this. Im also suddenly DCing ever few seconds to minutes, but i dont know if that could be my wireless adapter or blizzard. — to be determined

TL;DR: – brand new Macbook Pro also having these issues

I started playing again, after being gone for years, with a brand new Macbook Pro with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB. I began noticing random visual/graphics glitches immediately. When 8.3 hit and I leveled up to 120 and started doing more graphics-intense content, I began having lags and freezes as well. Most of the time, I have to hard-restart to get out of it.

Mac OS Version: 10.14.6 Mojave
System model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 memory, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB graphics
Symptom: significant lag and freezes in high-graphics content like raids, instances and newer content, especially with lots of “azerite” explosions. I almost always have to hard-restart b/c I cannot get out of it or even force-quit the program

Ok two points…yes this issue persists after the small patch (actually worse in some ways). I posted my macbook pros info over a week ago. Secondly I took the time to do the bootcamp/windows install. After several hours last night getting it setup I tried playing from windows OS…this is NOT a fix. graphics were choppy when moving, FPS way lower then on mac (roughly half what they are on MacOS). While I didnt get the hard lockups, the freezing still happened, and the graphics were so choppy it gave me a headache.

{edit} yes I agree, this seems to be tied to the intel gpu as it seems the vast majority of those having the issues seem to be using some version of it. Mahalo

Vision of N’Zoth quest

while loading in I DCED

I log back in, never ended up in the vision, tried to go back and it said my mind is recovering from a recent vision

THAT I NEVER DID!!!

They should change the system to having a time limit, when you finish the quest and exceed the time limit you have to wait until the next day. I just think its dumb that if you dc while loading into a vision and log back not in the vision… it shouldn’t count as you entering the vision and then leaving. Fix this issue cus I just lost out on 1.5k coals…

Also having issues since the patch, mainly lag and stuttering pretty much constantly and fans running high on the computer. Haven’t even tried dungeons or any new content yet, just running around zones and questing. Lagging occurs in completely unpopulated areas and seems pretty heavy in Draenor. Could easily run the game on a 7-year old MBP prior to the patch with no issues, so I know something big changed. Lagging on new iMac, on which I had few issues before the patch. Changing graphics settings to 1 didn’t help at all. Typically, I run the game at lower graphics setting (4) to keep the game running smoothly and keep the text crisp at 5k resolution, and the fans only run in areas with heavy atmosphere (another really annoying issue for another day). Have not even tried to run this on the old MBP that used to run it smoothly.

iMac settings:
OS: Mojave 10.14.5
Model: iMac19,1 (5k 27inch 2019)
Processor: Intel Core i9 3.6 GHz
Memory: 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics card: Radeon Pro Vega 48

*Adding: SSD drive, graphics settings at 4, 100% render scale at 5k resolution - however changing these did not help much and made the game look bad

I have been following this thread since the beginning. At first in the halls of origination quest right in the beginning, my computer would do the same as all of you just lag then eventually crash and reset the whole computer. After disabling all addons, setting my graphics and resolution to the absolute minimum , AND fight every mob in there facing the camera to the ground, I was able to get through it. From thereon out , large packs of mobs or too many people fighting a rare at once would cause the game to lag or crash. Besides failing a vision or two because of this, the game is somewhat playable most definitely not enjoyable whatsoever. The most recent hotfix you guys implemented definitely did not fix the problem, but made it either slightly better , or slightly worse… so minor I cant even tell the difference… I lag more in some fights now but maybe lag less in other areas… its weird. One thing is for sure, is that I lag every single fight and there’s a chance for the computer to crash.

Either way , i’m not sure how a company this big is barring hundreds maybe even thousands of players (people who dont read the forums) from playing the game at all. Playing the game with all the graphics settings down to the least possible amount is atrocious and aggravating. It literally looks like im playing tetris or minecraft instead of WoW

For those of you still having crashes and panics, this is an Intel driver issue. If your machine has both an Intel integrated graphics processor (IGP) and a dedicated AMD GPU, please switch to the AMD GPU manually.

You can do so by following the instructions in the following link which show how to disable automatic graphics switching. All other users with a machine that has only Intel graphics will need to wait until the platform team can come up with a workaround with the graphics code so they can avoid triggering whatever bug the Intel drivers have in them.
