Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

I would like to add my name to this list as well. I was in a heroic warfront yesterday, and the game froze repeatedly and crashed my computer several times. Until the 8.3 update, the game worked great on my system. Please have the techs make this a priority.

This is really frustrating and I hope blizzard can fix this issue for all MAC users. It was fine before patch and I extended my sub by paying for another 6 months. Now I cannot play in Raids or M+ even for a min without constantly freezing for 20 secs and later having to restart my Macbook.

Thank you for acknowledging the problem. I’m just happy that it’s not on (user) my end and that it’s documented enough to grab Blizzards attention. I think it’s somewhat commendable that someone even answers in here instead of radio silence… and for that I’m glad.
At least we know it’s being worked on.
No one likes a work around and I’d rather the root cause be investigated instead of just telling everyone to run a work around instead and leaving it dead in the water.

It is definitely worse now. Game went from freezing every few minutes to crashing (often the entire laptop) every few minutes. Not sure why you would think it appropriate to say ‘if’ anything needs to be done.

I feel bad saying this, but the patch worked for me.

2015 15" MacBook Pro. I feel for those who still can’t play.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 13" running Catalina. While it does have an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645, 1536 MB; I have the graphics set at a 3.

This new patch has crashed my computer (every 30 minutes), frozen my game (every 15 minutes) for about 1 minute causing me to die, and now has caused what appears to be a stutter in my character’s movement.

I am sure the devs are busy with other more pressing matters (and yes I have reported the bugs) so I am not coming on here to rant and complain about this.

What I am asking is if there is anything I can do (reasonably ie: I am not getting a PC) to mitigate this problem until these issues are solved? I have tried reducing the aspect ratio and graphics but it doesn’t seem to work well (unless I have to reduce the aspect ratio all the way to 500 since it is at 2500 now). I am not great with computers so if there is any advice, I would appreciate it.

Can you share a video settings

I am having the same problem. The new hot fix changed the error code to the 120 second check in message that can be seen from other peoples posts above.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

I believe this problem is isolated to people with Intel graphics cards. Something in WoW is not working with that.

The fact that this isn’t priority number 1 is pretty jaw dropping imo

I played in Uldum, Pandaria, and Nazjatar for about 4 hours this morning and the patch seems to have fixed the issue I was having. I haven’t played for more than a few minutes since 8.3 that I haven’t had freezing and/or crashing issues. Since this last update, the CPU never spiked and I never lagged at all.

My settings are basically default. I’ve got the in-game graphics set to level 3 which is what the game recommends. I think the only change I’ve made is that I set the graphics card to my internal GPU instead of auto; that probably has no effect, as I’ve only got one GPU, but I thought it might be trying to use the CPU, instead, for some stuff it shouldn’t… not sure how that works.

Also, I use EasyRes to set my resolution to a standard 1x resolution when I play the game (I got that tip off this forum).

Gosh, I just wan to play my favorite game! Blizzard do something, don’t let my monthly subscription go to waste!!!

Wanted to add my name on here. I think I’ve finally noticed after more than a decade of having to wait for hot fixes every patch that blizzard doesn’t give a crap about Mac users. I gave up even trying to play days ago, and if it’s not fixed within the next day or two I’ll be canceling. I’ve played this game long enough to know they will never compensate any money game time or reward for the inconvenience. As usual, it’s “screw you Mac users! We have this more important issue with xmog/auction house/satanic rituals.”

Still same issues. Will there be an actual fix or is unsub needed? At this point I can’t kill a rare or do a vision or key or raid. Can’t even park in boralus.

So they don’t forget about us, still having the issue after Tuesday 21st update/maintenance.

dont feel bad man, glad you can play! Yeah, is there anything upgraded about your mac or unconventional that you could think of?

game keeps freezing when I’m trying to do arenas. AWESOME IM SO HAPPY

“Hey I know the game is unplayable for you Mac users, but you’re a minority of our player base. We’ll get to it this month, I think. Meanwhile, someone’s mail is late, CODE RED CODE RED”
