Thanks for making a cranky thread btw. It’s nice to not rain on other peoples parade haha.
I don’t know. I remember when the BfA cinematic dropped. There were a lot of Alliance players very excited about taking back Lordaeron.
Then the reality of the expansion set in several months later when you could actually play the scenario.
I think BfA ruined the faction conflict for a lot of people.
Idk, when I saw Teldrassil on fire, I just knew this wasn’t going to be a good story. You just can’t recover from that. There’s no redemption after the War of Thorns.
It absolutely sucks that Blizzard refuses to innovate. It’s soul crushing almost to the point of being offensive. It’s not limited to WoW, it’s most of their products.
Like at best in most cases, they’re chasing down improvements that competition made years ago. Otherwise they’re specifically restricting innovation in the name of chasing a buck.
All of the things that made Overwatch and HotS remotely unique and successful got ripped out over their lifetime (or ignored entirely).
People want to give Blizzard money, they want reasons to pay for Blizzard’s games. It’s… Almost incomprehensible how they produce their content.
Activision is run for the sake of shareholders, not consumers. The money men want sure things, tried and true revenue generators. It’s why AAA companies are always chasing trends rather than trying anything new.
I’ve been pretty happy with all the Diablo products, but Blizzard is making it incredibly easy to just stop supporting them all together. This year revealed a lot about the company, and I have probably 2-3 years until D4 is even released so the hype may die out.
Absolutely. It’s known. I just don’t understand the logistics of squeezing money out of something instead of trying to make it flourish.
I mean, I do, it’s all greed and capitalism and related bs, it’s just gross to consider that by as little as letting people do their jobs they could easily make significantly more money off a much broader audience.
But despite being neigh guaranteed I guess that’s just too risky.
MMORPGs have been pretty much completely stagnant for the last 10 years. I can’t be too hard on Blizzard about WoW when pretty much no one out there is trying anything new either.
FFXIV’s main two advantages over WoW is graphics and hiring competent writers and letting them write the story.
The logistics are that self-regulating capitalism is a myth and corporations are inherently short-sighted due to their structure and thus reliably do things that everyone else can see are breathtakingly stupid.
Although Amazon is suppose to be working on 2 MMOs which… is really hard to believe but maybe they’ll come up with something new.
They seem to be pretty good at starting projects and then canceling them after 3 years.
Cancel me next.
Sorry, Pandaren are too perfect to simply cancel.
God I hate to immediately swerve back into the cranky again but lord the idea that now we’re getting allied death knights is just.
Uuuuughhh.
I may be an outlier with my two or three of every class at level cap (well… Legion cap anyways) but I’m pretty sure even your average player has a second or third character at max.
I’m so sick and tired of Blizzard persistantly repackaging old content and selling it back to us. Program in some god damn class change options or get off the market.
Secondary, marginally separate hot take; now that customization options are hopefully getting equalized, allied races should start at 50. I don’t care.
Edit; my dumb assss just realized that the new DK scenario coupled with the level squish means either technically allied races “can” start at some higher level, or new DK’s might start at level 1.
Wait. There’s no cross faction grouping? The actual reason I was ever planning on picking up this expansion isn’t actually there?
Well, that kills it for me. Legion was the best expansion I ever will play, I guess. Unfortunate, because that would’ve been a fantastic time to drop the faction barrier and let us roleplay, dungeon, and raid together.
Too bad having a soul isn’t more lucrative.
So the deep dive is going on, not going to be negative about this, they’re increasing the leveling speed apparently by 60-70%.
- Adding a new starting zone and keeping all of the existing ones.
- New level range is 1-60 and every level should unlock something.
- 60-70% faster to level 1-50 in Shadowlands.
- Pick any expansion to level 10-50
I was really excited for this as well…god why did they have to ruin it all.
If you guys want to go through the Deep Dive:
https://www.mmo-champion.com/content/8820-Blizzcon-2019-World-of-Warcraft-Deep-Dive
I don’t fully get what they mean by the 60-70%. Does it mean that we’d level 1-50 that much quicker if we choose to level in the Shadowlands 1-50?
And as a further edit to the edit of my post, how the hell do demon hunters work now. Do you unlock them at level 40ish? Do they start at 40ish? Do you still get dumped in Legion automatically or do you do the intro scenario and just go level in westfall???
Oh. Okay that maybe sorta explains a bit. Thanks!
I don’t know that I want to take it that negative. Blizzard is a company that made genre defining or creating games in the 90s and early 2000s and has basically been milking nostalgia since then.
The people who made those original games, and largely the culture, have long since left. Asking Blizzard to innovate at this point when basically no one at the company has done or seen it is a hard ask. Perhaps an outside competitor could force them to change, but it’s not realistic that they would do it on their own.
I was so worried that the Pandaren starting zone was going to be scrapped.
Also:
- Death Knight and Demon Hunter zones will be scaled 1-10
This just makes me laugh HAHAHA. Y’all ain’t no heroes anymore, you’re just like any other class now.
