Cross Faction grouping is sitting with High Elves being saved for the next time they utterly fail an expansion
That may be Shadowlands. A lot of people are sick of Sylvanas, and if they redeem her they are gone, myself included, so we shall see. Shadowlands looks like it could be fun gameplay-wise, but from a story perspective it looks like another Sylvanas circle jerk that everyone except her fanboys are tired off.
I’ve got this feeling that they’re going to give Void Elves a ‘Two Forms’ racial and also provide Blood Elves with blue eye options. Either way, I’m confident they’re going to do something with the High Elves for either one with the customization update.
Either both races are going to benefit, or only one is and an entire community is about to be furious.
its gonna be just Blood Elves and I’m gonna laugh my a&% off
It’ll be interesting to say the least.
Pretty much every MMO with factions has been forced to abandon them as their player base decreases. There are frequently more groups trying to sell carries for the latest raid than actually do it. I thought activity would force their hand.
I actually hope factions never go away in the sense that you can’t have an Orc walking around an Alliance city or Human walking around a Horde city. But I would like us to be able to group up together for dungeons and raids.
Not gonna lie and this is probably a spicy take that I’ll come back to later to see an asterisk on my “New Replies” blue bauble but I blame the unwillingness to do cross faction stuff / melt the factions on the larger (read: most of the people not on this forum or any forums) Horde playerbase. The ones who claw at their eyes the hardest whenever it’s mentioned are usually Horde, the ones who laugh the loudest whenever “us vs. them” stuff pops up on screen are usually wearing Horde shirts, the developers whenever they say it’s integral to the story are usually wearing Horde memorabilia when they’re being questioned about it.
I just don’t get it. The die hard chest thumpers could just not invite the opposing faction races to their group while the rest of us enjoy one anothers company.
I can’t imagine the marketing of faction insignias would go down just because Billy can group with Moknar.
This is all I really want. Though I wouldn’t mind some flavor with folks that have the Ambassador (or something) title and have that a human has to stay within [x] radius of their Horde Ambassador while in an enemy city (in vice versa).
Die hard chest thumpers usually can’t stand the idea of anyone else having fun in a way they don’t approve of. This is the same demographic that has conniptions every time the idea of an easy mode for Dark Souls or Sekiro is floated. The fact it doesn’t affect them is immaterial, for some folks the fun is knowing someone else is made miserable.
I’m ok with their heads exploding from rage because people are having fun. They can join the other folks that are pro-faction segregation. The rest of the game that already plays both sides can move on while pointing and laughing.
This game just doesn’t have the population anymore to keep us separated. It hasn’t since WoD. Not to mention there are glareing lore reasons why we should be able to xfaction group and guild up.
The only reason we’ll never see a faction merge is either;
The Brand™ is too many years cemented for the suits to risk changing their cash formula. No, logic does not apply here.
Or,
Because the echelon that make decisions are still trapped in the early 90’s or whatever.
We already know objectively that feedback means nothing to those groups.
its this, this is the reason
This reminds me so much of the “why classic raiding was better” and “LFR is bad for the game” crowd. It’s like they are saying: Raiding is only enjoyable to me if I know others will be excluded from it.
They are. They are saying that. As in some people literally do use those words.
Oh I remember the days when I could only do dungeons/raids on my days off because it took hours of sitting around waiting for a group to form.
I am just having a really hard time imagining that chest thumping tribalists outnumber people that just want to play a game with their friends regardless of faction. Shadowlands is another Class Hall expansion where we are actively collaborating with one another. What’s wrong with every now and then there is a faction specific questline but the rest are generalized for both factions?
I’m just flabbergasted.
Because the devs are stuck in a 15 year old mindset.
This will never change
I think I’ve played this game too long.
Also they famously don’t listen to their consumers. No negativity in the dojo.
