Crafting order griefing

Honestly I think this is far too simple of an assessment. Just this week I was able to fill two public orders that didn’t have all mats for a profit. I’ve been able to get some first crafts on spark bearing items by ponying up the mats I already had in my bag.

Now this is anecdotal for sure and my experience may not be typical. But at least one person has benefited from this change. The reality is that different people have different goals. There are valid reasons why a submitter might exclude one or more mats and valid reasons why a crafter might decide to fill an incomplete order. Designing the system to disallow incomplete orders removes agency from these players so that other players have a system that meets their goals.

The failure here is on the lack of in-game filtering for crafters to be able to hide any order that doesn’t suit their goals. If such a filter existed, crafters that advocate for all public orders to require all mats would get the same experience but still allow crafters willing to consider incomplete orders the ability to do so.

I’ve given it some more thought after seeing crafting orders being put up. Even if people are providing mats, no reason to tip less than 5k at this point for gear. Potentially more if you’re getting decay gear crafted because people have to run the dungeon or spend over 30k+ for a 3 charge portable altar.

Even worse when people expect to have something crafted tip 1k or less with no mats provided. One WQ gives anywhere between 650g-1250g+, but people can’t afford to tip? Same rule applies with crafting T3 gear. No reason to lowball someone who went out of their way to get the entire set to be able to craft the T3 for everyone, and only tip 500g if they are feeling generous. I’m not even factoring in the insights needing to be used, although in my case, I have so much of it, I don’t mind using it.

Maybe I’m coming off sounding entitled, but it’s absurd to be so cheap. It’s like the restaurant business. Tipping a dollar or just pocket change is flat out insulting. 1000g is pocket change at this point and an insult to crafters.

Can’t say what you were tipping, but in this case, the person you made the deal with should have given a rate beforehand.

I usually won’t take the time to fill an order for less than a 5k tip. it’s just not worth it to me. I certainly won’t spend an insight for less than that.
