Crafting order griefing

I have every profession except Inscription maxed out and you know how many items i craft for people in trade chat? None.

Oh let me hold your hand for 20mins for 500g that i could have got in 30secs from a world quest.

Let me hear about how greedy i am for asking to be paid for using an insight worth between 6-10k min depending on the profession…

Im totally not doing anything else except waiting on you to get your finger out of your nose…

Frankly you lot can craft your own stuff and ill stick to guild stuff

you get what 3 free insights a week just by accepting a quest - insights are not worth that much this time in the expansion.

The game warns you if you are using your own mats but there are probably crafting addons that skip/remove those warning messages in order to speed up crafting by making it at least 1 less click.

I’m guessing Blizzard hasn’t done much else to stop this behavior because putting up orders for no mats and no tip might be something some guilds do. Use guild funds to keep crafting mats stocked in the guild bank and then members can get stuff crafted for free. IDK

yes, it’s a good way to get free bags, but if you just spam orders across proffessions you can luck out and turn profit.

Good thing they got all social chat out of trade chat so they could pretend endlessly spamming looking for a crafter to create gear had something to do with making lifelong friendships.

It has to do with token sales. Lose money and mats = more token sales to replace them. Unless, of course, it has to do with supporting scammers because they lead to more token sales.

A system that only works well for raiders in an established raiding guild and works worse or not at all for anyone else is a failure.

You know nothing if you think insights are worth nothing. On LWer 1 is worth around 9k making armor patches. Thats just one example.

I send orders to myself for my Alts with no mats all the time and most of my friends and guild mates send me materials on a regular basis so they can do that too. Fortunately most tip me anyway.

There is a place for no mats and a minimal tip, but people take advantage of the system. There is some promise here but needs a bit of tuning.

ask for the cost next time

Actually people do that all the time they dont tell you what they want then they get mad when they dont get what they want , its a poor business man ways… figure this guy just just lost a customer just because he didnt say what he wanted

Yes that’s also why now I ask if what I am gonna tip is fine, most of the time they’ll agree (I normally tip around 3k for a craft, 5k with insight, 10k for the toxic stuff with insight)

Enough people are doing this that selling them is an incredibly tedious task though. I got tired of wasting time working through 20 patches because a dozen other people were constantly cancelling and relisting the damn things.

As a crafter who refuses to sit in trade chat in a city all day, I look for public work orders when I come to town. Sadly, we can only complete 4 of them a day now verse 20 at launch of the system which had benefits but took away from other crafters trying to level at the time.

When I do find a work order even if they don’t supply all the materials as long as the commission covers the cost of me getting the materials I will only craft the item if I can guarantee a rank 5. Otherwise, no matter how high the commission is I will pass on making the item even if it meant a skill up.

You spent the time gathering the materials, putting up a fee to craft it at rank 5, so I am not going to screw you the customer off of your hard work because I didn’t put in enough hard work yet to craft the item you wanted.

I swear I remember a time you couldn’t create a work order without materials. I do remember when you could make 20 work orders over 4 and I miss that time because I burn through those 4 orders at time when people actually put one up in public system. When they converted from 20 to 4, it was so bugged you could create 1 item and it would eat up multiple crafts you were allowed.

I personally won’t touch a no mats work order unless the commission covers the cost of me walking over and purchases the material even if that commission was completely used up, I make the item because I want to help a player out. This current version of crafting is the 1st time I have every put people on ignore because they are spamming the work order system with no commission no mats to sell the item on the AH.

I have now taken every person I had put on ignore off the list because of crafting but only because I downed loaded an add-on that allows me not to see work orders like that anymore. It’s sad I had to get a third-party add-on to do the work Blizzard has refused to fix on their own.

Inscription was the last profession I hadn’t maxed 100/100 but I had maxed all the sub-trees 2 months earlier. Now I just need to get the sub-trees of my blacksmith finished which is another 140 knowledge points.

But I have not done trade chat work orders as well. I can make more money doing a world quest plus it gives me something to be doing then sitting around trying to catch that random request from my spam and x other people requesting LFW as well. I do the public system and I refuse to accept any order I can’t rank 3 or 5 the item for the player wanting item made.

I take it insights are the thing you make with mettle. All my crafters have on average of 14k mettle sitting in my bank because the amount of public work orders is low, and most people will provide the mettle to craft the item. The rare times I need to use my mettle to rank 3 or 5 an item I don’t set an arbitrary value on it. I craft the item because I want to help another player out.

But for everyone losing money and buying a token there’s someone gaining money and not buying a token…
The ability to place orders without all materials is something these forums specifically requested.

I see people doing this often for dracothyst. They will put in a public order with no mats and tip 1k. Ff they find a crafter not paying attention and then they make about 3.5k selling it on the AH.

yep. I’m pretty sure people asked for the ability to do so.

it backfired.

Oh good point. I do that too when the alt that is doing the craft either has the mats or has more gold to buy the mats.

The no mats for public orders was the worst thing blizzard did for this new system. 99% of the time its people trying to scam.

My ignore list is now massive as well.

All the crafts iv done in DF i would ask how much they wanted and they would tell me , just give me what ever you think is fair, even lariats

I use the add on “no mats, no make” it auto filters out all of those public work orders.
