Crafting is terrible

I think that would devalue really crafting and removing options, sometimes you don’t care if it is max rank or rank 3-4 because that is the amount of gold you have at time.

it wouldnt devalue crafting at all. not a single thing would change other than public orders wouldnt be a problem. ive never seen or heard of someone not caring what rank their crafted is. if anything this would raise the value of crafting

Leave it to Blizzard to ‘fix’ something that wasn’t broken for like 17 years

I agree with you on that , I hated DF and I REALLY hate it now . I didn’t even level up anything other than my alch in DF , chanting and tailoring was just too hard and I quit trying to mess with it.

You know what I like about this post? All the specifics.

I agree the mats are just way over kill … I mean why do I need 30 kinds of fish to make the same dish and I am JUST trying to cook buff foods for myself. Just junk EVERYWHERE .

They don’t do a good job of teaching all the wacky misc things you need to do. I find the rng element the worst part. Alchemy is the only one I have a grasp on. It is what it is though.

players should NEVER have any influence on others ability to gear in this game.

I think if the kp’s were more generous, it’d be better.
Otherwise, what’s the point.

I like the current systems, but there need to be some modifications.

  1. There should not be varying qualities of finished product. Make 5 star the only outcome, but require more materials if you aren’t using 3 star mats and/or aren’t skilled up all the way.

  2. Open the workorder system to all servers like the auction house. It is painful to get things crafted on low pop servers. And due to the quality variance for open work orders, it is not viable in cases where the quality matters.

  3. Remove the limitation on fulfilling workorders. Any crafter can fill as many per week as they desire.

These three simple changes would vastly improve the quality of life on crafting.

I agree, I miss just flying around and collecting mats, and the longer I farm and the more mats i collect that day, the more I can skill up my crafting profession without any sort of time gating.

Crafting is amazing now. You can gear every slot at max ilvl and that gear last all expansion. There is nothing hard or convoluted about it. You’re just too lazy to learn an easy system.

You can go get enough KP right now to max out any branch. People just don’t know what they are doing or don’t want to spend the time doing so.

We have NEVER spent this much time on professions. Professions have NEVER been this useful. We have a real economy now. Gold has been useless for years. I made over 1 mil last expansion just crafting for people. I’ll do the same again this expansion.

You don’t NEED to craft. Just have someone else make your stuff. Depending on the tradeskill it’s currently cheaper to do so.

Other than seeing the number go to 100 how did this help you? It didn’t. Not at all. Crafting was useless until DF.

The system can always use improvements, but this is what it is. Keep on complaining or move on. The vast majority love the new system.

get rid of ranks for mats so that your not carrying around so much in different ranks. no need to take up bag space

Can you summarize how that works?

I can’t seem to make anything that’s better than what I have (and I don’t have great stuff), and I don’t see how it will last all expansion even if I did.

So, just curious how that works.

Are we going to get crystals or something each patch that lets us recraft our stuff higher? And we’ll just re-catalyze it for tier with each new raid?

The way you describe it, it does sound amazing! I don’t think it’s necessarily that I’m lazy, I’m just unaware of how it all works. What’s a great resource to learn it the way you explain it? Wowhead? I’m down to give it a real shot if it’s truly that amazing!

I’m thinking deeply about unlearning my crafting professions and just ignoring them completely. What im afraid of is that there’s not enough content for me to enjoy without professions and lack of arch in the last exp leaves me with little to do after i loot my raid bosses (faction experience gaining is not fun for me). Might cause me leave again for several years but Id rather not. its so frustrating and complex. I feel like its a lot of my time for such tiny little gain if any at all. I can farm and sell but craft is lost on me with the current system. I did like crafting up to DF. I think its a poor system especially for leveling after a new exp comes out (i use to enjoy back capping my skills/recipes if needed in previous exp).

I don’t know how I feel about crafting. I enjoyed the process of having to specialize early on, which let me make decent gold on not having to use cons. However, now that we have been live for a bit, many of the crafters on my server are maxed out in many specs and can craft whatever so its harder to make gold.

I wish there were better KP catchup mechanics that didn’t involve patron orders that can be very expensive.

You can currently craft up to iLvl606 Epics (depending on Knowledge points spent, quality of materials etc.) via the Work Order system with a Spark of Omens and crafting mats whether it is from other players or your own alts (of course if you use cloth and are a tailor you dont need to use work order system. You can do dungeons/raids/delves to get Runed/Gilded Harbinger crests. 45 Runed crests can be turned into an Echanted crest that can bunp the iLvl of the crafted item to 619. 90 Gilded crests->Enchanted Crest-> iLvl 636 craft. Max iLvl is actually 639 so not MAXIMUM iLvl but yes, with enough crests and gold (or mat farming) and crafting you can be 636 in every single slot of your character. When 11.1 drops, the spark of omens will be replaced with a new spark of “X” that will make the iLvl range from probably 640-660 ish if i were to guess, you just recraft them item and replace the spark.

Crafting has never been better. If you don’t like it, don’t engage with it.

What do you mean?
