Crackling Shard Nerf Suggestion

4 shards in 3 days doing bees and havent seen a single one since.

They put a massive mob grind in a zone without any real reason to grind mobs its weird.

Bees arent good gold anymore either.

This is great advice for almost any farm in the game, do something that guarantees you some sort of benefit/gain like mat farming and during the course of that you will eventually get what you want.

Wanting it today, or feeling like you somehow deserve it quickly is just going to make you miserable.

Its not that bad tbh, WoW used to have real grinds before, the game has softened its grinds for mounts.

I made a post on this a while back:

“the shipbuilders cave at 64, 20 is the place to go.”

Nicholas Talib wrote a very good book entitled “Fooled by Randomness”. the premise of the book is how frequently people misconstrue multiple occurrences of very low probability events as skill.

the probability of you getting two very low drop chance rewards in the same day is much, much lower than that of getting one drop, but it isn’t zero.

it is just monkeys at keyboards eventually writing Shakespeare

I have never seen one drop. I find the whole idea of farming an entire zone extremely poor design and wish they would stop putting this kind of stuff in the game.

We get it. You like your “look how many players are in this zone!” Numbers.

Got 3-4 already, doing just that since the expansion begin, and I even took 45 days off.
If you want to farm for it, then yeah, it won’t be dropping soon.

People did the beginning of the expansion. And I’ve got guildies who saw two drop in the past couple of months back to back from mobs.

RNG is RNG. Not some timed tin foil thing you came up with.

I was getting them every week for awhile and then only one in the last 3 weeks but they do drop ( the one in 3 weeks was after I got the mount though).

And yet ya’ll argue for the sake of arguing. All I said was about the RNG and currently OP doesn’t have the good one, so a no drop window.

No one is arguing just to argue. You claimed it’s all timed and no one gets any other drops after that.

You’re giving out misinformation on how the system actually works.

Edit: oh, I see you edited out literally everything that you were told was incorrect and now you’re trying to play it off as if you never said it. Got it.

It’s really not that deep.

They edited their “It’s all timed and once you get one purple, you’re done” stuff after I had responded. No, it was never deep. It was just incorrect but now it’s moot because it’s gone. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve claimed that if you get a rare drop then you are in for a no drop window - statistics. 2 mounts back to back isn’t special. Try obtaining all 10 shards back to back. My point was to not try to brute force statistics, it won’t happen. You get drops on average - normal distribution and from there timed drops.

I got this mount a couple of weeks ago by farming Sandres the Relicbearer and Springbubble. I found that I got one shard per hour on average. I already had 3 from leveling alts and another 2 from farming bees/wolves so it only took about 5 hours to get the rest. This just my experience but it seems others have had a similar experience according to Wowhead. Good luck!

And this is incorrect. Done and done.

Then what’s the correct one?

The key to the shards is to just chase Siesbarg and the Cinder Bee.

Go get the drop for Bargie. Grind out chitin and blood off of the Dorn nerubians by the meadery. This is horrendous. You will probably get a few shards doing just this.

Once you finish that (venom can’t be done in Dorn) go farm up the 999 pollen for your bee.

By the time that’s done you’ll probably have 3 mounts for basically one grind then its off to the Siren Isle for the Eyes of the Siren.

The areas that were nerfed for Crackling Shards were primarily spots that you could force mobs to start hyperspawning. This doesn’t really affect the drop rate itself though; it is completely RNG. I finished up the mount a few weeks ago, and then this past Sunday my druid looted two Crackling Shards off normal mobs I’d been killing to skin within 5 minutes of each other.

In general, I’d recommend either doing the bee farm or just sweeping Isle of Dorn for rares periodically. The rares have a little bit higher of a chance to drop them, and 9 of my 10 shards to initially get my mount came off rares.

RNG is RNG. People can get back to back to back drops or people can go for months without drops. It’s percentage based. If it’s one percent, you have a one percent chance upon looting. Nothing more.
