Covenants, Fotm, Class discrimination=Community mentality problem

There’s something really rotten and unhealthy in the mentality of many WoW players, especially in the wannabe elite that dont do any ultra competitive content like world first yet they talk as if they cant survive without playing Fotm, Bis, meta, best covenant etc.

Sloot during a stream pointed out that “We are never gonna go back to bring the player, not the class, not with this community” simply because he knows the community mentality is the problem when bad players who dont understand the game demand fotm m+ healer for a +3 for example.
Because even if Blizzard balanced them to be impossible near each other, the community will always call something FoTM and follow it without understanding it as many players are wannabe elite and follow whatever the elite players say without understanding it.

The disgusting mentality is seen often, even by some streamers
Other popular streamer: Talks about how terrible current spriest feels
Followed by:
“I might have to if it is really strong”

The facts and logic point out that there’s no need to have fotm, bis, meta, best covenant etc to perform well as players who know their class and can do mechanics are on top of the rest simply because of that. Especially since even old world first guild players have said that WoW is really not a hard game to play well.
Let’s see the reasons someone would need those:

  1. World first mythic or m+
  2. Selling boosts and that’s stretching it
  3. Half your raid is underperforming so 2 people try to cover that fotm/bis set up
  4. You are a terrible player so only way to get invited to raid team is by playing fotm/bis

If you are not in those 4, you dont NEED those, you might want them but there is no NEED, and the problem is there is absolutely nothing wrong with simply wanting to play the most performing spec, if you want to torture yourself by playing boring unfun classes because of high simdps go ahead, the issue starts when the same people start demanding from others to do the same or refuse to invite people who dont play the terrible FoTM

The mentality is the core issue of the current WoW community, that is because people have ignored it, mentality evolves by itself but can be controlled, all that has to happen are a number of popular streamers starting to push together for a more knowledgeable and understanding mentality where player skill and abilities become the main factor instead of copying meta guides and fotming.

I’m pro RPG and Player Agency.

Make the Covenants flexible and freely swappable please.

Then you ruin the very part of RPG which is about meaningful choices with consequences.

Choosing a covenant is not only choosing the best ability, it is choosing to lose all the others

There is no choice if you can swap like a mongo for each boss/dungeon/content

Did an experiment today.

Tried queueing for +18s on my disc priest today, 2400 io, 479 ilvl, perfectly itemized for it. No invites.

Hop on 472 pally alt, terribly itemized (only 1 glimmer), horrid secondaries, crappy trinkets, no corruption. 1.8k io, get invited to +18s.

Same thing on my druid but at 468 ilvl, 1.3k io. Get invited to +16’s-17’s NP. LOL, this community is great.

Humans are going to discriminate no matter what.

If covenants are restricted - that means a lot of players are just going to see what sims best for the spec/role. They have no choice.

I’d rather players have fun and be able to make choices throughout the expansion.

As a role-playing advocate, I disagree.

Other people having the ability to switch things up to enjoy the game how they like to play doesn’t have to get in the way of me picking and sticking with my favorite covenant.

My RP experience is preserved and I lose nothing of tangible or emotional value.

Now - if I wanted to force others to play the game how I wanted to play, sure a flexible system would take something away. But I’m not selfish like that.

Until you either teach and educate such humans or kick them out of the community ;^)

Aka what the mentally unhealthy Fotmers are trying to do on everyone else

This sounds more like a Blizzard doesn’t know how to balance their game over a community problem.

I say make covenant abilities on their own talent row (can incorporate lore as to why we can freely chose them through Orobus etc) and have covenants as a cosmetic only feature which are not easily swappable.

The only issue most of us have is that many players like myself play multiple forms of content (I do PvP, M+, and Raiding) and it will be a hindrance being locked into one ability.

Ya its balance not a community issue.

There’s something really unhealty about your obsession on this topic…

I’ve felt the same way.

Raid tanks get hit pretty hard if they enjoy PvP.

Then they’re stuck having to have multiple characters of the same class???

Hazing 10/10.

I know, some people think being anything other than a complacent gamer TM that never tries to improve anything or fix problems and defends status quo is a really weird thing to do, i know.

Yet another “Look at me!” Ralph thread.

Well, Ralph, you sound pretty complacent about the quality of the game you expect.

Ya, I mean if I want certain characters I have to be in certain covenants for cosmetic reasons though I may be forced into others for their abilities.

I want my DH to go to Maldraxus not Ardenweald which Ardenweald is looking like the best ability.

I do applaud Blizzard for the way legendaries are shaping up. It seems we will have a Build-A-Legendary Workshop choosing what slot and what effect/stats. Much better over Legion’s acquisition.

The problems are not the communities to fix. This is purely a Blizzard balance issue. You have an irrational hatred for the community and an even more irrational belief that Blizzard is in no way responsible for the state of their own game.

If you’re trying to get Green Text you gotta fill out the app bruv.

t. “I refuse to take responsibility for anything and blame Blizzard for everything”

Yeah nothing surprising, most people who know about WoW and its community know there’s a serious problem with the mentality.

They dont know how to fix it, but they know to acknowledge the problem, you denial is the usual “Not my fault omg”

But is this going to be problematic for people who by mistake set up their legendary wrong?

Well they can make another one with the same effect. The way its shaping up so far on Alpha your first legendary will be free then it takes 2 weeks for a new one. The runs for it are capped and short meaning its going to be alt friendly.
