To be fair there is some fault to be had with players for certain reasons and I think that’s the point they’re trying to make, but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt and maybe that’s being too generous… it is mostly blizzard / activision / devs who are at fault with how they designed this, because it is their game and not ours…
“Lets design a game that contradicts the actions and desire of the players then blame them as to why we can’t do things”
I mean I get where they were trying to go with everything, but the end result is just… bad. If they wanted to make covenants mandatory I wish they would have uncoupled them from any/all systems that impact character power. I think some of the systems are interesting, but the covenants take away any actual agency I have if I want to keep raiding with my team.
TLDR: I realize I have no choice and I’m slowly accepting that. For me Covenants will just be another box I have to check and nothing more.
It shouldn’t have to be this way… I’m just glad by the end of the day that Venthyr is at least competitive for my DPS spec and 2nd best for my tanking (main) spec… I’m not even really giving most groups this expansion the chance to drop me just because of my covenant choice, I’ll just start my own and / or run Torghast most of the time, getting however geared I can that way… it’s funny because I really kind of tried to go for AOTC in 8.3 BFA, but at the end of the day I was just happy to get the backpack from Wrathion… I have never been “hardcore” in any sense of the term…
Let’s hope it changes asap when they see it’s a failure on live servers, and not just on beta where they were told over and over it would be.
Dont worry, they will sell you these cosmetics in an MTX in a few months :). And all those dumb players buying MTX will say ‘‘oh its just cosmetics u dont have to buy it durrr’’.
Exactly. They are why we have DBM
I’m going to explain why that is the case.
Blizzard has made it easier and easier for players to act in this way, They design systems, and even support this min/max mindset with game design, and development time.
When they forgot the reason why most players play a mmorpg. It is for the RPG element. The immersive world, the story. The player base who min/max and don’t care about that. To design a game around them is bad business move, and they been hurting because of it.
No amount of good raids is going to make players happy.
No amount of Sh***Y make work grinds, either.
A mmorpg is all about the grind.
If the class are fun to play, the time invested vs rewards is fair, and players feel like they are progressing in a way they enjoy. That is how to win.
Thank you for the more detailed and helpful explanation, which I 100% agree with… I still disagree with you on LFG / Premades being part of the problem though, but at least we have Torghast now to help buck the kickers who min/max…
I don’t care about min/maxing at all and I still dislike the covenant abilities. Maldraxxus was so cool. Primordial Wave (shaman cov ability) was awful and I can’t force myself to use it for the expansion just so I can be in Necrolords.
Source: Dude, just trust me.
And this is my problem. I can’t either. And I am not as good as some of my guildies. But I like to compete. So I need every edge I can get. That means picking an awful covenant because it works best, not cause I want it.
Your arguments and opinions are immediately invalidated the moment you start calling someone a shill for liking something.
Just a heads up, for future reference!~
It is overly complex. The people who do well from it will be those who find overly complex systems inspiring. People who do not will struggle, have difficulty getting into groups, and work harder to complete content.
So far nothing about any covenant looks to be worth the time invested. And you are right, somewhat my fault. I should have done more research .
You are responsible for your own behavior. People will make assumptions about you based on your behavior. It’s curious what triggered you.
pve is pretty easy so i’ll just get whatever covenant’s best for pvp.
