We have a marvelous opportunity with Classic to change things, I’m really just not much of a fan of “space stuff in my medieval fantasy game”. I always thought there may be a time to leave Azeroth, but during Classic I never dreamed it would be so quickly and I felt it was way too much too soon. There were a lot of interesting things on the home planet, and it just felt like a cheesy d&d campaign where the dm couldn’t slow his roll enough to keep from handing out overpowered weapons to low level characters. I was like 'we’re going to space? really?? jesus they aren’t leaving themselves many outs here as to what comes next" and of course I was right. We already went to space, so the next expansion was bound to seem kind of tame in scope - which it did, to some degree. I just never got why we needed space aliens anyway with all the good fantasy tropes there are (most still left unexplored in all but the most simplistic ways).
And honestly, we’re all quite sick of fel green and purple. The black twisted hellscapes have been done to death and they are no fun to play in. Yecch.

I did read your post and I disagree with all of it. No, I am not sick of fel green and purple, no I don’t care that we “went to space,” I enjoyed the Burning Crusade era the most out of all my time in WoW. - which is what your title said - “Burning Crusade”
And if you’re talking about Legion… honestly, Legion was the best expansion of all the “modern WoW” up until Argus…which the space part wasn’t even bad, it was just basically the exact same thing just in a new area. Kinda like The Division 2.

I mean if the Dark Portal didn’t exist in previous WoW lore and wasn’t such a pivotal plot piece, I could agree with you.
But nonetheless, I don’t. Outlands was awesome.

Personally I liked BC better than Vanilla and any other expacs but that is me I think that I am not alone in this aspect. I get it why some peeps are all about the Vanilla but there are a lot of players that loved BC so let leave opinions at that…opinions. Btw you can read your full post and still disagree.

Amd lets no forget that blizzard has not said that they are doing anything after classic. People have hoped or wished for more classic expansions into tbc, wrath or even an alternate time line but so far its just classic vanilla.

I have to agree with OP. I enjoyed outlands, and the BC expansion, but I wish there was an expansion to ramp up to leaving our world behind to fight evil. Classic was “here is this huge awesome world to explore and have fun in” The first expansion should build on that, not say “ok, done here, move on”
that being said, way way way too much work would have to be put in to shoe-horn another expansion or something like a step between the two.

While i generally agree with you regarding sci-fi vs high fantasy, what you’re suggesting simply isnt Warcraft. Warcraft lore and its original RTS games revolve around “outer space” and “green aliens” (orcs) invading. Everything from titans, world souls, old gods, the void, the orcs, the draenei, all exists because of (not in spite of) Outland and “outer space”.
Im not being mean or attacking you at all - it sounds like you want a different game

Did I miss something where they said TBC, WOTLK, etc servers were going to be a thing? Last I heard they wanted Classic to be like a museum piece and stay that way.
Could be wrong though, genuinely curious.
