Could I please have a way to turn OFF auto-attack?

It is driving me nuts on my hunter.

And no, I do not have ‘Enable Interact Key’ or ‘Enable Action Targeting’ checked.

well you could macro every ability with
/autoattack off

or something.

IDK if this could even work, just brainstorming.

Auto attack is a base coding of the gameplay. There are even talents for auto attacks.

It shouldn’t do it on left click, or do you just mean you started attacking with like arcane shot and it kept firing; that i have no idea about how to fix, you can macro all your stuff like said above to stop it instantly but its more of a temp solution.
I know hunters accidently pulling with right click has been a problem for forever tho.

Why would you want to do that?

I’ve been the cause of a stray arrow or two myself.

Why hunters get such an endearing nickname. (Not sure how to turn it off though)

personally I aim the camera down to keep ONLY what Im fighting on the screen IF its possible to do it for the same reason. I’ll target something across the room and its hit before I know its happened.

And yet, in the UI in Cata, there was a box where it could be turned on and off.

And I did on all my characters.

I would like that option back, thank you very much.

don’t you have an auto attack icon in your spellbook you can just click off? I have turned that on and off on a bunch of classes although probably not hunter.

I am on my mage right now and they have an auto attack icon in the spell book - I would be very surprised hunters wouldn’t have.

In Classic or back during Cata? Also: no need to get uppity. I was just giving information I knew, not telling you “no you can’t have it.”

It actually turns off auto attacks?

Hunters do have an auto-attack icon in their spell book but it does not allow you to simply turn off auto attack for that character.

I would like something in the UI that allows me to turn it off and not have to deal with it again, like the game originally did.

Back during Cata.

Don’t right click? :dracthyr_shrug:

I’m confused why you would want to turn it off. As long as you left click things they shouldn’t automatically be hit the same with tab targeting. And auto attack should only really work if your right clicking things or firing first.

If it’s something else or I’m misunderstanding, I apologize.

Idk if you got to see the lovely hunter bug in SL S2, it was glorious. Targeting the boss whatsoever would trigger an auto attack. It was great. So you couldn’t set up hunters mark, no tab, no click period. It was safer to 180 face away from the boss until it was about to be pulled lol.

Is it persistent? You had to toggle every mob you targeted in Classic.

So we cannot turn it off as it says in the spellbook? When put on the spellbar?

Honest question, I cannot remember the last time I even messed with auto attack on any class.

So is this about right click auto attacking or just how hunters will keep shooting after they use any ability.

If its the right click thing thats one of those default protected functions you cant re-keybind, theres probably some old script to turn off rightclick entirely but not one for just the attack function.

If its for on abilities just macro /stopattack into everything.

The post is definitely too vague to offer any kind of assistance. Personally after reading some replies, it sounds more like “BUT ITS IN MY SPELLBOOK WHY CANT I USE IT!” pointless outrage.

But eh. Like I said, not enough context.

As far as I am aware, the ‘toggle’ is just not hitting the button (if on a bar) or not right clicking (since that is auto bound).

At the core, because my character is doing things without my input. (Yes, I also hate it when the game makes story decisions for my character.)

But right now, because my level 49 hunter is doing raids in Legion which are not a one shot proposition for her level and she keeps pulling things before I can decide how I want to tackle the situation.

I honestly have no idea which way I am doing it as it is unconscious at this point.

All I know is every so often I line up a shot and before I can press a button to make the shot, my character has taken one.

An auto-attack check box in the UI would take care of this.
