Corruption Effects Adjustments Incoming

No, it’s a deserved nerf to all melee specs; range has no equivalent to echoing void. Infinite stars is good for both.

but seriously, no one liked feint pants in legion (or any of the other utility items). if someone told you they were happy they got that legendary, sorry, they’re a scrub. so why even bother putting these goofy utility effects on items, when it is clear that all they do is piss players off when their friends get the 10-20% DPS increase proc?

Because they depend on people to do it for free. But when all their testers are just streamers - nothing is ever tested. But even on the occasion people do report bugs they don’t fix them.

Isn’t the whole point that these strong corruption effects have higher corruption costs and therefore more slows, more damage taken and the thing from beyond constantly spawning at the wrong time. If you nerf them to the point they are not worth wearing your just killing your own system. I play a ranged DPS class and learning how to change my play style has been quiet enjoyable.

I have echoing void III, I have cleansed other items to try and keep my corruption effects to a point I can manage them. It’s going to be very disappointing once the nerf comes in and I then have to hope I get the next “good” corruption for my gear, while others who already have the “good” corruption keep on going.

IMO nerf EV for Tanks and for PVP. For once just leave something fun in the game.

Ion at Blizzcon we heard you the is too much rng in the game. Next patch oh hey lets make a system that is better then titan forging. Here is an idea you get a random piece of loot for a random slot. On that piece of loot there will be a random chance for it to corrupt. The corruption will be random and the amount of damage that corruption will do will also be random.

Random(gear slot) on random(corrupts or not) on random(which corruption) on random(rank of corruption. Thats not rng at all.

Yes I am salty as most if not all my guildies are currently running around with upwards of 7 pieces of corrupted gear I have 4. One being the guaranteed piece and of course all the corruptions I got aren’t very powerful thus leaving me in the dust dps wise not cause of skill but cause of sheer rng. Yep enjoying this patch a lot

Yeah, I’m using two R2 tentacles on my DH now, instead of using infinite stars. It might not theoretically be as high of dps, but it’s consistent and reliable. I prefer my pull to pull damage being relatively similar. I don’t like when one fight it’s 47k, next fight it’s 55, then it’s 52, then its 40, then its 57.

I would be curious to see numbers on how many tanks are strolling through the greater visions using Twilight Devastation. Meanwhile Echoing Void is on its 3rd round of nerfs and is nowhere near the damage a non-dps spec can do with your loot roulette system.

No please, except for that mythic/whatever stuff you people do

follow the :carrot: on the stick blizz keeps moving around.

The system would have been much better executed if they just added like a form of titan residuum to the game that allowed you to corrupt something with the power of the corruptions coming from harder content.

If you did LFR/Normal/Low Keys you got a rank one variant shard. Collect enough and you enchant the item with the corruption as a means of using N’zoth’s corruption against him by weaponizing it.

Mid level keys like 10-14, Heroic raiding drop a rank 2 fragment.

Mythic and 15+ drop rank 3 fragments.

Add a system where you can turn in so many rank 1s for a rank 2 and vice versa so people don’t complain about being locked out of higher level corruptions and they could use that enchant to corrupt their Heart of Azeroth which gave the effect. This would eliminate stacking traits from the game as well as playing with various sources of gear and allow people to change them at will based on nerfs that would inevitably occur.

Its a weird catch 22 Blizz sets up for its BETA testers, they tend to invite:

  1. small amount of joe blows who generally are just happy to play a BETA and dont submit any feedback or useless feedback like “buff my class, nerf that class”.

  2. Invite a large amount of top raiders, Arena players and streamers who really act as a giant press core for Blizz new product, the Majority of the detailed PvP and PvE balance information actually comes from this group as they know how to submit useful feedback and have indepth knowledge of the game and its mechanics.

  3. Invite specialty players your Nobbles, Taliesen’s, Evitel’s, Kelani’s and Bellulars etc etc this group submits useful information about quest text being spelled incorrectly or fighting this mob makes you DC and these starting area mobs are too difficult to kill etc etc.

The good thing is Blizzard readily listens to group 3 as its basically harmless product quality improvements that need to be made.

The Problem is however that with group 2 the Methods, Limits, Exorcis’s and top Arena players of the world who list detailed information about broken class abilities and overpowered game items etc etc. This group is largely ignored because “we feel your performance is far above our normal raiding and Arena population” so there feedback is generally considered not useful as “only the top players will pull it off or farm up that gear”.

group 1 is ignored because their new to BETA and do not know how to submit useful data that Blizzard can use to make actionable decisions with, this really is the “just happy to be here” group.

but no doubt the limits and Methods will tell blizz “this is broken and it will be exploited in A, B, C, D and E” type of way and they will basically treat all that detailed feedback as something only the 1 percenters have to worry about.

look at this thread already people are telling Blizz “hey if you nerf the best traits too hard be sure to also adjust the corruption levels so that you dont cause the reverse effect” likely Blizz will not heed that warning until Twilight Devastation, Infinite stars and Echoing Void do like 1% dmg while costing 75 corruption, and then 2 months down the road will be like “we have learned some good lessons from our corruption changes and will be making some further balance changes to there cost to account for there new effectiveness”.

This seems like a kind of knee jerk, no sleep, WC3 debacle has the exec’s suddenly saying go listen to the customers vibe to it.

Will there be an item restore for those who have cleaned awful traits that are now being buffed? How did this even go live with no testing. All of the sudden void ritual might for from an F tier piece to an S tier piece?

Not that my opinion matters but everyone in my famed guild is super pissed about this. Why would you think it’s a good idea to do this after reset when we have already cleansed pieces we didn’t think were good for progression?

Just totally braindead.

What a terrible, oblivious, and disconnected company it takes in order to remove titanforging, only to replace it with something ten times worse.

This system is hands down one of the worst things ever implemented in this game bar none.

The fact that blizzard is so completely blind to how the community wants to play this game is beyond me.

I can’t wait…

What do you mean. Is it not awesome that some people are running around with 410 quest blues that are worth more damage than 460+ items in their bags.

They should have just left warforging in the game up to a max of 10 item levels. This way the top 1% of mythic raiders still feel special knowing they will get the best gear in the game still. It gives replay value. You won’t have some stupid situation like we are now with people wearing 410’s over 460’s.

I want to know whos idea it was to implement azerite armor and this garbage corruption system. You guys need to start shifting bodies around because I really hope the team that designed BFA has nothing to do with Shadowlands. You have a chance to get a random item, that item might corrupt, with a random corruption and at a random tier of corruption. We traded 1 form of rng for another with multiple layers of it.

It would have given a mythic raider replay value. The casuals who have left because world quests are no longer going to give them upgrades… Do they matter, or is the game better off without the majority of players?

“Significant” nerfs to stronger traits, but only improving garbage like Void Ritual “by a small amount”?

Things shouldn’t have been released in this unbalanced a state in the first place. But once you get around to trying to correct it, you guys are entirely too heavyhanded with the nerfhammer and too conservative with buffing, as usual.

Void Ritual needs more than “a small amount”, but I guess at least it’s not the Leech one, which in no way justifies its corruption budget.

i want to add my 2cp, that these changes seem knee jerk and too hasty. the corruption system wasn’t perfect, neither was titanforging, but i’d ask you not to cater to the loudest whining on this. those types of people are never satisfied.

the overall impression corruption gives is that everyone supposed to get an assortment of effects that slowly brings them up in dps a flat about. that flat amount wont be equal for everyone, but it wont be too far off. a big complainer in another thread about this, kept referencing wclogs and saying how everyone was so balanced, the dps all within 5% of each other.

so any random assortment effects, though it may affect each spec unequally, i dont think the difference will be as bad as the sky-is-falling types claim. and if tanks gain relatively more, as a %, than dps, but dps are still far ahead in absolute terms, i believe you could be making a truck load of unneccesary work for yourself up there in the blizz offices.
