Corruption, alts, and not doing cloak. Broken

Is there a way to cleanse corrupted gear without going through the questline? If not why Blizzard did you allow WQ and emissary drops to get corrupted? Should we not play alts unless we intend to spend the hours going through that quest line?

Are you guys going to address the mess that is 8.3? It’s like the bad stuff just keeps on rolling. Worst patch, worst expansion.

This is an alt. I have NO intention on grinding it through the cloak quest. There should be a straight skip to the cloak on alts once you’ve done it on your main.

The purpose of the patch is to greatly increase the power gap between those who are able to complete the content, and those who are unable or unwilling. The cloak is the “carrot”. Corruption on much of the gear you get is the stick. Much of the gear your alts get this patch will be useless to anyone who has not done the questline, thus, in essence a big nerf to gear for those who are skipping it.

Don’t you get cleansing after like 15 minutes? You don’t have to get the cloak to get the cleanse.

You can now skip the long questline and just get into the assaults on an alt. I only know this because I just did that on my DH so it does take some time off, how much Idk but it’s a lot.

Doing a one time quest is grinding now? 8.3 has problems for sure, but this is really scraping the barrel.

It’s like one evening of playing to get the cloak. Can we not refer to that as a “grind”?

You need mementos to cleanse corrupted gear, and you need the cloak to obtain mementos. Ergo, you need the cloak to cleanse corrupted gear.

I am working on my 4th alt and to be honest with you, it still doesn’t feel like a “grind”. Rather do the cloak than the dailies, now doing dailies on all of them, that feels grindy of sorts, the cloak, not so much.

Honestly, maybe those don’t even feel grindy? Cause they get done pretty fast. To each his own I guess.

Where can I cleanse it without going through the hours of the questline?
The skips barely even help. We shouldn’t be doing any of that stuff if we’ve done it on an alt.

Don’t really want to be that guy, but without a cloak and corrupted gear your character is basically useless outside of world quests this patch.

It’s hours of game play I’ve already done. The idea of doing it on an alt for the, and in my case too, 4th time just seems dumb to me. Why they didn’t put in a skip for all of it once you’ve done it on your main is beyond me. Ohh well… World of Koreancraft MMO.

I got to the part where I unlocked cleansing in literally 15 minutes, just last night. It’s the first thing you unlock after doing the first assault zone. However,

If this is accurate, then despite being unlocked, it might not be usable anyway. So I could be, effectively, wrong.

I know…got a nice ring upgrade from a WQ this morning, didn’t pay attention until this big eye came while I was fighting the adjacent rare and ate me raw. Then i ckecked and noticed the tier 3 corruption affix with 66 corruption. So now i have to either do the questline or toss a 30 ilevel upgrade with good secondaries :rage:. :hear_no_evil::see_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

I mean, should you have to clear dungeons or raids on your alt if you have done them on your main? Maybe just do it on one character and get loot boxes in the mail on all your other characters? After all, its hours of gameplay that youve already done.

Or maybe there does have to be a line somewhere between having one character and having multiple characters. Alt friendly does not have to mean Alts get everything for free. Where that line should be is debateable, and I’d agree there are things right now that could and probably should change. But Its all a valid debate. Engaging with a one time story quest on each of your characters hardly makes it :

You can obtain momentos without unlocking the cloak.

The mini-bosses within Ny’alotha drop 200 each.

But it’s fun to have corruption and get the NZoth minions chasing you every 15 minutes or so. You can usually out run them.

Fair enough, although I think it will be incredibly difficult to find a group willing to let you enter the raid without the cloak.

You can cleanse it just do quests until mother gives you the cleanse option. You don’t need the cloak for that.

Well yeah, but it shouldn’t need be stated that not unlocking the cloak is a terrible idea if you care about your character being viable enough to join PuG’s.
