Does anyone else say it as, “Yuh-Saar-Sh” instead of “Yah-Sah-Raj”? I’m pretty annoyed everyone thinks it is the latter pronunciation especially considering he doesn’t have another R in them middle of his name. His name was first spoken not by a WoW Dev but a Hearthstone one when the Old Gods expansion was revealed so I know it could be a wrong way to say it.
Seems correct to me regardless.
I say it as yuh sarge
That is the way I say it. I probably could’ve spelled the pronunciation better.
I like how neither of these is correct.
This one gets it. Almost, anyway.
Ah this old thread has been resurrected.
I say “eee sharge”
I have no clue. I say ee-sarj with a soft j
This
Perhaps I will resort to loud gurgling noises instead?
Maybe it’s my language studies, but I pronounce often the individual “y” as “ee”
Mix that with some deep throat clearing sounds and you got it! I mean it is the name of an old god and Y’Shaarj is the closest approximation that our feeble mortal minds can comprehend.
Yeah I think that’s where my habit comes from, too. That said, it is meant to be Lovecraftian inspired, so “yuh” would not surprise me as the official pronunciation.
ee sharge. Then I pull the cotton out of my mouth.
So, according to the devs it’s Yah-shah-raj
That tracks, honestly. Not exactly elegant, but consistent with similarly named creatures in other stories.
It is pronounced ner-d
this is the only correct answer here
“yah” isn’t the first sound – there’s no vowel between “y” and “s”
“rahj” isn’t the last sound – there’s no vowel between “r” and “j”
i refuse to accept this. they need to do a better job with the romanization if they expect it to be pronounced that way!!
Ee sharage
yuh-sarj
This.
Not sure where y’all got “Yuh” from Y.
