For us Cannibal Corpse fans I have some sad news. Our front man, George, is having his NPC renamed due to his famous rant BACK IN 2007!
Feelings have been hurt and Blizzard thought it necessary to change his name.
It’s disgusting how far Blizzard is going.
Their actions is making my decision to quit this game pretty easy.

I guess smack talk to the opposite faction is frowned upon.

Good conversation, very professional!

There’s no conversation to be had. Something from the real world was brought into Azeroth. Due to that something’s poor personal decisions, it will be plucked away.
“I brought you into this world, and I’ll take you out of it”

There is plenty of conversation to be had. You honestly think he’s only one that talks smack outside of the game?
It would have been different if he was an employee.

This one should’ve never been added to the game, and people were complaining about it way back in 2007. As far as I know, he never apologized.

I personally unsubbed from the emote removals. They are hypocrites of the highest caliber and I do not trust them at this point. They’ve skated by on peoples good will for so long, it’s time to let them know through $$ that they are heading the wrong direction. Might get a hoard of tokens for Seasons of Mastery, but I cannot support the company monetarily anymore with this kind of horrific posturing they are about now.

Isn’t he the one that, in a pre-recorded video played on-stage, told half of Blizzard’s (then) customers to go kill themselves at Blizzcon?

No, but not everyone gets punished. This happens irl too. The childish “why isn’t X being punished if Y is” argument is meaningless.
Duh? I still don’t get the point to this petulance, unless you’re trying to ruffle some feathers amongst GD?

Very professional to make yet another thread on the same subject because you think you’re the most important person in the world so your thread on the exact same subject saying the exact same thing is special

To be fair, he never should have gotten an NPC when he went on a hateful rant about alliance players at an event for both Horde and Alliance players.

No. it was at a heavy Metal festival.

Heck, I was playing WoW back then. I remember the controversy.
I wasn’t offended, but it seemed in poor taste and foolish, as well as needlessly divisive about real life.
I mean, it is one thing if he said :
“We shall see Stormwind burned to ash! To the Maw with the Alliance! All land is Troll land!”
That seems in the bounds of Faction rivalry.
But what he actually said… was insulting to LGBT folks and encouraged self harm to actual players.

I disagree with most of the removals/changes Blizzard is making but this is one that I feel like needs to happen. As stated above if he had worded it differently it’d be one thing, but what he said was pretty unacceptable. His name really should be removed.

…that Blizzard showed at BlizzCon.

What he said 14 years ago compared to the conversations That go on in random battlegrounds or in trade chat, it’s absolutely ridiculous.
Instead of cracking down on things that happened decades ago they should be more concerned about the smack talk that goes on in game today.
But yet I see nothing being done about that.

Whataboutism. Both are wrong and should be cracked down on.
What is going on today doesn’t excuse what he said nor should it be used to shield it.
