Cooldown Tracker coming?

iHi, a few weeks ago i could’ve sworn i saw a post or something that talked about a addon like thing that would track CDs. In the example photos there was a shadow priest and it had like sections for different types of abilities (Defensives was one for example) and those sections could be moved wherever.

Does anyone know what this was? i spoke with a friend who also recalled seeing something similar but we both can recall what it was or where we saw it.

Usually people use weakauras for that. Look for cooldown trackers on the wago.io site.

Also looks like a first party “cooldown manager” is coming in 11.1.5: https://www.wowhead.com/news/cooldown-manager-preview-patch-11-1-5-ptr-375857

Supposedly it will track buffs, cooldowns and a few other things… sounds like a bad version of weak aura. But built in for the “no addon,” crowd

I use OmniCD for this purpose

Goodness that looks horrible. I’ll stick to my addons.

is there a addon that works just like it though but looks/is better?

i just tried omnicc and it seem nice enough but…

My DoT tracker is a WA of thin bar type lines a friend made for me. My cooldown tracker is Doom Cooldown Pulse.

That’s pretty much all I need.

I saw the preview for the upcoming cooldown display and it’s pretty weak compared to what ppl make with WeakAuras.

Eh, nah I’ll stick to my WeakAuras. I like being able to choose what I want to track.

I mean u can set the bars to have a timers on CDs, and look at the bar when its ready to use

threatmeter built in replaced standalone Omen addons.

Cooldown Manager is a new feature in 11.1.5. its SUPPOSED to be a replacement/alternative to WeakAuras. but it is VERY basic and has extremely low customizability.

I’m very interested in the new Cooldown Manager.

I think it’s a mistake for them to launch it without the options to add or remove which abilities you want to track. I want to use the feature, but I am afraid it’s going to throw 2 dozen extra buttons on the screen when I only really want to track 5.

The out-of-the-box gameplay experience needs to be better. This feature will be an instant improvement for many players. It will help me track my abilities better - especially when I’m playing classes I don’t know as well.

I’m personally unlikely to utilize this as I play on a laptoo so my screen real estate is valuable.

its good that they are trying to make tools to replicate addons, since the addon bloat in the game is pretty wild. BUT, this is a very half-a$$ed attempt. you cannont pick and choose which cooldowns are tracked. you cannot change/rearrange the icons at all. certain things are tracked that dont need to be. and it just doesnt do most of the stuff that WAs do.

basically, if blizzard is going to try to create their own versions of popular addons, their version needs to be at a bare minimum, EXACTLY the same, if not better, or else its just not worth the time and money invested into making it at all.

WAs allow you to track literally anything, and customize the appearance to look however you want. same goes for audio. you want a cat meowing to let you know that ur free divine storm just proc’d? WAs let you do that. you want to track your BM hunter frenzy duration in a bar format, colored hot pink for whatever reason? you can do that. the Cooldown Manager just doesnt offer any of this, and no1 that is already using WAs will switch to it. basically the only people that will realistically use this are those who use no addons at all.

It’s great they are trying, but they need to do much better.

Am I the only one who would rather do away with all this nonsense and just have characters that are fun to play? I think I’m running an add-on package with damn near 200 weakauras just so I have the information I need to perform marginally well at my class because I don’t have the required rocket science degree to play it well otherwise.

I don’t think it’s a bad attempt. I just think it’s releasing too early. They’re obviously going to add more features over time (and they said they would), but first impressions matter. I think most people who saw the data mining assumed this would be a Midnight feature. I was shocked that it was announced for the very next patch.

I think they should postpone it until it has more features.

I disagree with the idea that Blizzard needs to copy add-ons exactly. Most of the features of WeakAuras (or ElvUI, Plater, and other common add-ons) are massive overkill for the average player.

I need a countdown to show me my cooldown is ready. I don’t need it to meow at me.

Add-ons should continue to be the best option for power users. The base UI needs to be a better option; it doesn’t have to be the best option.
