Convoke fix idea

So I had a thought about how they could potentially fix/nerf Convoke this weekend, thought I’d run it by you fine folks here on the forums.

What if the damage was backloaded in the channel? Like they’d need to channel for 2 seconds or so before it started throwing out spells. It could be the same amount of spells, just not immediate.

I had the thought after a game where I waited in camo for the boomy, as soon as he popped and press convoke I used my arena target counter shot macro. Literally the instant convoke started I pressed it. And my partner still got instaclapped by a full moon. That’s dumb. That feels like no counterplay, when the time it takes counter shot to travel thru the air my partner is dead. If it took a second or two of channeling for spells to start being thrown out, it would at least feel like you had an option to stop it.

Dunno, might be a crap idea with all kinds of issues I’m not seeing. Thoughts?

I think if you manage to lower the front end but make the back end do all the real dps. you will run into issues where I will cast a convoke I know you cant deal with or max range. And the last 2 seconds will 100% kill you in the 2 seconds always.

I think the better way to deal with it would be a visual windup that happens for a second before the channel starts. More likely than not the better way to deal with convoke would be to buff the other covenant abilities so druids have more options lol. Kyrian is a lot harder to deal with than convoke when you get higher up as its much more reliable. The other 2 covenants are so bad you will never see them played.

a better idea would be to make it not throw full moons out unless ur spec’d into it. it makes no sense throwing full moons when ur not spec into it

Biggest things so far are to remove the abusively strong spells from the possibilities and reduce the number of spells per second. People will start transitioning to Kyrian, like most players, but it will at least fix the cheese.

How about we just stop promoting abilities that have insta-delete potential, and instead require people to use CC/silences and coordinate burst with their partners? Either that or just give everybody a 5 minute CD insta-delete ability, doesn’t that sound fun?

Ya mean kind of like how the Kyrian ability gives both players a damage boost? What we’re going to see more of once Convoke is finally dealt with…

Yeah that would be a good idea. As it is now, you can know it’s coming, completely focus on playing around stopping it, use everything in your kit as fast as possible, and still get instaclapped. That just feels bad. A visual wind up would be an elegant solution.

Kyrian ability is replicate 20% of their damage for their partner or just a 15% self buff.

It does not buff both players.

You’d see people channel it safely behind a pillar for 2s then pop out when all dmg is coming.

Then they’d spec into moon? I mean you think not taking solstice is a game breaker? Lol. This wouldn’t fix anything.

Honestly I’ve said this so many times but the best solution I’ve thought of is to either remove full moon from a potential cast entirely, and/or just make the delivery of the current spell list linear. Instead of rng casts every .25s, keep that however make the starsurges always come out every second. That way the damage is spread out over the entire channel and can’t be front or back loaded. This would stop the cheese and reward proper set up. Even how it is now the cheese doesn’t happen super often but I understand even once is annoying.
